Wikipedia & Youtube Project
Hi Donnie Park,
My name’s Alex. I’m a student at American University, and I’m working on a project on Wikipedia and Youtube. I noticed you made a relatively large amount of edits to the List of Youtubers Wikipedia page and I was wondering if I could get your input on a few questions.
1. After talking to a few Wikipedians and doing some research, it seems as though Youtubers have a harder time obtaining a Wikipedia page and/or higher quality pages than other “traditional” professions. Do you agree with this assessment? If so, why do you think this is?
2. What could Wikipedia change to better accommodate notable figures from newer platforms like Youtube? What could Youtube do to better live up to Wikipedia standards?
3. If you could change the guidelines on Notability in any way, what changes would you make and why? If not, why do you think they’re stable enough that future societal progression could still be covered equally?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

- Hi Ah2681a
- I hope this answers your question.
- Guidelines are strict (and they have to be) and they they need to pass WP:GNG first.
- To be notable, YouTubers need to promote themselves more, get themselves featured in their chosen medias. An example of this, the presenters of Global Cycling Network are able to pass guidelines due to their other notability in the past (competitive cycling in particular); Kai Wong and Lok Cheung of DigitalRev TV due to acquiring a long term following that specialized magazines picked up on but WeeklyImogen, despite having the highest subs for a female presenter, is not at this time be able to as no magazines picked up on her yet but to achieve this, she needs to put herself out a lot in photography magazines but I could see her pass notability guidelines in the future.
- Personally, I don't think it should change, I think the guidelines for YouTubers is strict but fair, it's that they need to improve on their notability.

- Thanks for your feedback Donnie Park, it's very much appreciated!
