You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Duff House Royal Golf Club, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because this account has been used only for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia's content policy. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is against Wikipedia's policy: an account is for an individual, not a group. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a free advertising service.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Bishonen | talk 21:28, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If Bishonen is happy for you to start a new account, then I'm equally happy for you to keep and rename this one. Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Sorry about the two-stage process, but admins can't do the actual rename itself. All done. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:23, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've formatted the user's unblock requests. Two of them is one too many, but I didn't know how else to handle it. Presumably the user wants both to change his username, and to tell us what he wants to do next. Listen, AlanDonald, the article that was deleted was much too promotional. Articles are supposed to be written from a neutral point of view, and to have references to reliable sources. Please see also WP:NOTADVERTISING. Since you are new at this, I suggest you create your article via Articles for creation; you'll get help there. OK, now we wait for an uninvolved administrator to review your unblock request. Do I need to do anything else?Duffhouseroyalwiki (talk) 16:52, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, you're good. Just check this page occasionally to see when the reviewing admin arrives. You can set it up so you get an e-mail when the page is edited, via the "Notifications" tab in your Preferences. Bishonen | talk 17:05, 19 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, will anyone be able to review this, this week. I have been looking at my content but I can't even check my formatting the the Sandbox as the account is completely locked down. Please help. Duffhouseroyalwiki (talk) 12:21, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to suggest you just cut through the bureaucracy and create a new account, but then I thought maybe not. I've posted a request for speedy assistance here. You'll remember about the Articles for creation, won't you? Bishonen | talk 13:17, 20 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]
I'm in the middle of reviewing, but something went wrong with and edit conflict I think - I need to revert a couple of edits.
No, all sorted and unblocked. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:23, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks all who helped. Welcome to Wikipedia, AlanDonald. Bishonen | talk 15:01, 20 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, Thanks I have now been able to access my account and the username have been changed. However, I am unable to write my article as the page is protected and now only admin can write it. Can you please have a look and permit access, I have an article started in the Sandbox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duff_House_Royal_Golf_Club Thanks Alan AlanDonald (talk) 20:55, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alan, there are definitely a few problems with your current sandbox version, and it would almost certainly be nominated for deletion in its current state. For one thing, it still contains a number of statements that read like marketing speak - if there is any suspicion that you are trying to promote the subject, Wikipedia users will be very hard on you. A Wikipedia article should be written from the position of a totally disinterested person who shows no appearance of connection with the subject. But, perhaps more importantly, your sandbox draft does not have a single reference. Ideally, every statement added to a Wikipedia article should be traceable back to a reliable source - we don't require such exactitude for a first article submission, but we really do need some sources that verify what you are writing. I encourage you to work on your current sandbox version, and perhaps consider submitting it via the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:15, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zebedee, thanks for the input I will try and rewrite some of the words. Its not intended to be promotional, mearly a insight into an, in my opinion interesting subject. There is a lot of history on the subject and ties with the Monarchy. The information was somewhat extracted from some old newspaper articles and i thought i did start to reference those publications. I will try to improve it, but my hope is that other Wiki users will enhance this as we go live. thanks AlanDonald (talk) 12:16, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
