Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Edison490! I'm Xinoph. I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down about U.S. politics! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! Here, however, are a few links to get you started:

There are lots of policies and guidelines to get to grips with but they all make your life easier and your stay more fun in the long run. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? ;)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a great time, all the best, sayonara and good luck!

Thanks for uploading Image:Reddy-Kilowatt-BW.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 03:16, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Indian.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Indian.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Shingebis Lodge 490.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shingebis Lodge 490.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:10, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

User talk page etiquette

[edit]

Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices on talk pages, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this here [1], under "When pages get too long." Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. This can become an issue in arbitration or other formal proceedings. For this reason, if your deletion of notices and concerns on your user talk page is to keep the "clutter" down, I suggest that you instead create archives for these messages. I would be happy to help you do just that if you ask me to. Best, Kukini 02:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Replacing the above deleted notice. Please do not blank notices on your talk page, especially notices from administrators. This can be seen as a form of vandalism. Kukini 02:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Restored deleted/removed threads. Edison490 02:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please read my notice above. It is considered best practice to not blank the notices, as you have been doing, but instead to archive them, as I clarified above. Also, you blanked the notice from me, entitled "User talk page etiquette" a little while ago. Kukini 02:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for the deletions. I'll look into archiving the page or creating a page for "completed work." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edison490 (talkcontribs) 13:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC). Edison490 13:46, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Camp Onway

[edit]

I have nominated Camp Onway, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Onway. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. —— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 12:19, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IEEE technical societies

[edit]

If you are a member of one or more of the IEEE technical societies, you may wish to identify yourself as such on Wikipedia. I’ve created Wikipedian categories for each of the 38 IEEE technical societies. The new Template:User IEEE member creates a userbox identifying the society and your membership grade and includes your user page in the relevant Wikipedian category. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note. Yours aye,  Buaidh  18:28, 11 December 2013 (UTC) — IEEE Life Member[reply]
