Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Epie2020, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! File permission problem with File:Gilles Epié.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gilles Epié.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:52, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:A picture of Chef Gilles EPIE.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:A picture of Chef Gilles EPIE.jpg, which you've attributed to Andre Rau. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Epie2020. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Gilles Epié, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 16:45, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I'm helping French Michelin-star chef Gilles Epie with his Wikipedia page. He noticed that you deleted part of the opening paragraph and the new press articles about him. Gilles does not own the restaurant, he is the Executive Chef. Only Gilles Epie and myself, Alexandra Radlovic, are updating this page. We have no external relationships. There is no conflict of interest. We only mentioned where he now works, the type of cuisine, and added a few press links.
Could you kindly explain what is the problem? Perhaps there is a limit on the number of links to press articles we can include??
If you have any questions, you can email Gilles Epie (gillesepie@gmail.com) or call him at #305.680.7594. We would appreciate if you could restore the page as it was before, with the complete first paragraph, mentioning L'Avant-Garde restaurant (which just opened), and the press links.
We would really appreciate it. We love Wikipedia!
Thank you!
Best,
Alexandra Radlovic

Hello,
Have you seen my December 20th response? There is no conflict of interest.
Look at any well-known chef on Wikipedia. For example, here's a French chef in New York.
Jean-Georges Vongerichten
On his Wikipedia page, he has his biography, mentions where he works and his cooking style.
Chef Gilles Epie has not done anything different on his Wikipedia page.
Could you please return his Wikipedia page as it was before. In fact, you deleted part of the 1st paragraph.
Thank you. Epie2020 (talk) 19:07, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you say there is no conflict of interest. If you are or work for the subject of the article, you have a conflict of interest. Please see the conflict of interest guidance and do not edit the article directly. You can post requests for edits on the article's Talk page. Also, your comments above imply that two of you are sharing the account. Please do not do this. Tacyarg (talk) 19:31, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Epie2020, you have a conflict of interest on the Gilles Epie article because you have a personal relationship with the subject and you need to stop editing the article. I'm going to revert your edits and tag Bbb23 to see if they can weigh in on this. BlueWhale89 (talk) 14:42, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
