Hello there. Well.....the article still has a ways to go to meet Wiki standards. These sentences stand out as particularly "ad-like":

Chef Giovanna is currently serving as the Executive Chef at Mio Restaurant in Washington, DC, an award winning restaurant affectionately known as the “Embassy of Latin American in DC”[7]. During her short tenure at Mio, Chef Huyke has been enthusiastically received by acclaimed Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema, calling one of her specialties a “last meal request”[8].

"Affectionately" and "enthusiastically" really don't have a place on Wiki. Instead imagine that you're writing an article about someone you don't know or maybe don't even like very much. You want to present the most important facts about the the person, and the most important publications, not every single book. (The many books in her series could be condensed into a single line, saying "volumes 1-12" or whatever.) Probably the article should be considerably shorter, and just hit the highlights. Also, there are entire sections, such as "Awards," that have no footnotes at all, and so cannot be verified. Please don't give up --- and good luck to you!Gecko990 (talk) 01:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Espresso57. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Giovanna Huyke".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Giovanna Huyke}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 13:38, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your request at WP:REFUND has been placed on hold pending further information. Draft:Giovanna Huyke was undeleted over six months ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission. Articles for creation is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. We may be willing to restore it again, but only if you provide a definite assurance that you actually intend to work on it and provide a short description of what you intend to do to improve it to meet our policies and guidelines. Please add this to your request or include in your next request at WP:REFUND. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 00:43, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good Morning. Thank you for helping me understand the process. Although not an excuse, I consolidated multiple email accounts and didn't realize that my wiki email was still going to an old email, which has now been fixed. Relating to revising the posting, the suggestions from other editors were rational and reasonable, and helpful in understanding the nature of the writing required to meet wiki standards. For example, removing the superlatives or the subjective positive adjectives. Als, Chef Giovanna has been around quite some time, and has a multitude of public domain references, press and acknowledgements which just need to be more properly cited, as the editors suggest. This can all be done, or the references removed. Thank you for your continued consideration and sorry for the trouble Espresso57 (talk) 12:50, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. Your draft is getting better! But the tone still reads too much like an advertisement. I would go through and take out everything that makes it sound like you are her good friend. For example, Huyke should be referred to by her last name on second reference, not as "Chef Giovanna." Also, the description of the changes in Puerto Rican cuisine at the beginning is too long, and it sounds too much like a marketing piece. Can you look at another Wiki article and try to match the tone? Just be very straightforward and simple. This is who she is. These are her major accomplishments. This is why she is important, according to prominent people who have written about her. Your sentences should be short, and even a little boring! That is part of having the neutral tone that Wiki strives to maintain. Good luck to you! Gecko990 (talk) 03:43, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
