A kitten for you!

[edit]

Your work on Howard Phillips (consultant) was great. What an unsung topic, taken from a stub to C and hopefully way beyond. I did some initial work on it long ago, and immediately afterward, I saw a surprise that really made me think. I assume there's more to cover, with his quotes and maybe even Nintendo Power magazine stuff. You were an instant wiki veteran, so what wiki did you come from? I recently did a similar expansion of R.O.B. and Radar Scope, which I never thought I could find anything on. So I expanded History of the Nintendo Entertainment System while I was at it. Lots of early NoA stuff. Let me know if I can help.

Smuckola(talk) 05:29, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Smuckola! No previous experience with Wikis for me, but I've always liked doing research and writing, so that's probably why. I agree that there's still room for the article to be expanded upon. For example, I want to try and look at:
- his jobs after Nintendo (I'm not sure if he even worked at JVC, despite the cited sources),
- why he became so popular with Nintendo Power readers (currently, I think the article doesn't quite articulate this as well as I would like),
- expansion on his product testing responsibilities/collaboration with game developers
If you're able to help in any way in those areas, I'd really appreciate it! -FrostFairBlade (talk) 06:46, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@FrostFairBlade: Hey dude. I blew it up again, with your comments in mind. I added a fair amount of why he was popular with Nintendo Power readers. His Nintendo Power responsibilities included an overlap with his product testing skills, because product testing turns you into a product advocate. If you're cool enough, like him. I touched on game dev collaboration regarding Rare, but I'm not done yet and I bet there's more out there, though he tends to speak in sweeping whimsical soundbite generalizations in interviews. So yeah it could use maybe some more detail about product testing and development, and this is the best reference I've found so far, though specifically in terms of fact-checking the magazine.
No he didn't work at JVC, so I deleted that several days ago, and my edit summary said that. He said that JVC was the publisher for some of the LucasArts games, so that was a source of misinformation on the web. I've never seen that misinformation but I guess you have, so I will put a clarifying statement in there. His only job I'm personally concerned with after Nintendo, is talking about having worked at Nintendo. ;) lol
I love Howard, but I wouldn't have actually done all this without your interest! I've always got it in the back of my mind that I gotta show FrostFairBlade my warez. And I saw your other Nintendo founder work, very impressive, and went along with that. So keep in touch. Let me know if you have any issues with Wikipedia in general. It'll give me a notification if you reply using {{reply to | Smuckola}}.— Smuckola(talk) 04:19, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Smuckola: Wow, nice job with the Howard Phillips article! You definitely went above and beyond to take it to the next level in completeness. It's definitely a pretty solid piece right now; I'll probably look into his stuff after Nintendo when I get the chance.
Anyway, thanks for the help! Glad I could be a source of inspiration, lol. We'll definitely see each other again on other Nintendo articles for sure, not just Howard Phillips. -FrostFairBlade (talk) 07:53, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Michio Okamura, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Diablo (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks for expanding the article! I am curious if Good article status is your goal? ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:10, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: Hey Another Believer! I think there's potential for the article to be GA, though I still have a lot of ground to cover. Even if it doesn't happen, I still fully believe it can be transformed into a well-researched B article at least.
Would you be interested in helping me with this goal? With your editing experience and you being a Portland native, you'd be a pretty big help. For example, for the life of me, I can't find any information on when or why the executive chef became a co-owner of the restaurant, among other things...
If not, no worries, I'll keep plugging away at the article! — FrostFairBlade (talk) 06:21, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. You should probably put this at B class.[1]Smuckola(talk) 11:48, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Smuckola: Thanks Smuckola! I still think there's some stuff that I'd like to add and change that would turn it into a B-class, but the article's well on its way! -FrostFairBlade (talk) 23:32, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
