Mandi
[edit]Hi Gerrynobody, great to see you uploading a pic of Mandi. Its my hometown. Thanks -- Lost 13:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello Gerrynobody, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Tormentors.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Gerrynobody. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 04:18, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:British_Empire_evolution2.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:British_Empire_evolution2.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit]I spotted one error on the map of the evolution of the British Empire. Calais was an important part of England until its capture in 1558, but is not shown as a possession in the year 1492. 24.158.117.96 16:50, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Stnicholascathedral.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Stnicholascathedral.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:08, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Burraizzyorts.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Burraizzyorts.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Rinuccini.JPG}
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Rinuccini.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. File copyright problem with File:Stnicholascathedral.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Stnicholascathedral.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Hekerui (talk) 10:31, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Primate. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
I don't know if your edits were intended as a joke, but the Primate article does not need to confuse people between it (an article on a clade of species) and another article linked from the disambig—Primate (religion). If you want to change a taxobox image for a popular article, particularly one with a FA star on it, please discuss it on the talk page first. – VisionHolder « talk » 14:27, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough, I will not edit it again. The intention was not vandalism however but I can understand it might be seen that way. To clarify, it was partly intended as a joke (yes it's a pun on the word primate as well) but I was trying to make a serious point at the same time by using as an example of homo sapiens a member of an institution that continues to deny evolution etc. Never mind... Speedy deletion nomination of Irish general election, 2011
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Irish general election, 2011 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Reaper Eternal (talk) 21:20, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello,
The British only controlled the modern day Somaliland. In the animation you can see that the British control the Somali coast, but that it incorrect. The British never controlled the Somali coast between 1822 and 1855. They only had administrational power there after WWII, until 1960. Thank you. Runehelmet (talk) 14:38, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Charles Boycott FAC
[edit]Hi Gerry, I've reverted your attempt to add a featured article candidacy (FAC) notice to Talk:Charles Boycott. Firstly, you need to create a FAC page. Secondly, and most importantly, I very strongly recommend that you have someone with expertise about the topic and access to sources available when nominating an article for featured status I have neither of these; it'd be best to contact the primary author of the article, Quasihuman, first. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Third opinion
[edit]Hi Gerry, just a note to confirm I have just now made a listing at Wikipedia:Third opinion, which is a less formal form of dispute resolution—the discussion continues at Template talk:British colonial campaigns. Cheers, — Cliftonian (talk) 13:17, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- That doesn't seem to have worked so I have launched a Wikipedia:Request for comment at the same location. Happy Easter, cheers — Cliftonian (talk) 20:27, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
