After discussion with this user

[edit]

@Callanecc: I've just been talking to GjonPreni in the IRC unblock channel. We got disconnected partway through, but based on my quick look at this situation I think things might have gotten tangled up. Would you mind taking a look back through? Here's my rundown of what happened (I think), pulling from the logs and including pings to the involved users:

  • 01:59, June 14, 2014 Bbb23 blocked Seventhegeneral with an expiry time of indefinite (Disruptive editing: including personal attacks, self-promotion, implicit threats)
  • 03:53, June 14, 2014 User account Geechiedan was created
  • 09:53, June 14, 2014 Favonian blocked Geechiedan with an expiry time of indefinite (Abusing multiple accounts: User:Seventhegeneral)
  • 17:09, 15 June 2014, user files an unblock request on Seventhegeneral's talk page
  • Discussion ensues with Ohnoitsjamie
  • 14:21, June 16, 2014 Ohnoitsjamie unblocks Seventhegeneral, advising the user to go through AfC if he wants to try to create his pet article
  • 16:16, June 16, 2014 Account Seventhegeneral makes its last edit
  • 16:48, June 16, 2014 User account GjonPreni was created
  • 17:14, June 16, 2014 First edit by GjonPreni is to create a userpage beginning "I was under a previous account called 'Seventhegeneral'"
  • GjonPreni carries on editing. He tries to re-submit the article to mainspace, but then blanks it and returns to the AfC draft instead
  • 19:08, 26 June 2014 STATicVapor opens an SPI (correctly) linking Seventhegeneral, Geechiedan, and GjonPreni.
  • 04:18, June 29, 2014 Callanecc blocked GjonPreni and Seventhegeneral with an expiry time of indefinite (Abusing multiple accounts: Please see: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Seventhegeneral)

So in short, after Seventhegeneral was unblocked, the user switched accounts and began using GjonPreni and (mostly) taking the advice he was given at the time of his unblock. I haven't looked deeply into the content of his edits, so I don't know if they were blockable in and of themselves, but I think blocking the user based on sockpuppetry might have been an error.

Thanks for taking another look, all! A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 19:43, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quite a mess. Maybe we should inquire into the role played by SevSaddam. Their only contribution was to the article draft, and the user name is suggestive – in more ways than one. Favonian (talk) 20:52, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am Gjon Preni, I am fan of Detroit Hip Hop with an affinity for D12, I originally thought that I was being Trolled by someone who had no authority to take down my edits. So I attempted to go around them not understanding how the platform works. After I was blocked I then understood the severity of my actions, I requested to be unblocked and vowed to NEVER violate the platform again. I again apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused from my ignorance. Lastly , I have 2 brothers who love and enjoy the same music in my apartment area, so I would assume sevsaddam could be one of them. I have already informed them that a violation would get us all blocked but as far as on my behalf I have only tried to edit correctly since being able to. If sevsaddam has violated any policy i will definitely have a chat with him to reiterate the policies and consequences of violation. Respect GjonPreni (talk) 21:12, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have a couple questions for GjonPreni:
  • Why did you blank your userpage shortly after using it to declare your previous account (which you are required to do).
  • I find the WP:BROTHER excuse to be unconvincing, if it's your account (which it very much looks like it is) it is much much better just to admit it's yours. So is it yours?
Thanks for the talk page message Fluffernutter, I didn't get the ping for whatever reason. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 08:00, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I assure you that I have taken full responsibility for the actions I caused on Wikipedia however the account spoken of with the "my little brother" excuse is not my account my brother in fact is 29 years old I have not broken any rules since being unblocked why am I being doubly penalized did the other account violate a policy? I removed the writing thinking I had put it in the wrong place and no one would see it so I removed it and informed an editor on the irc who in fact said ok as they were going to delete or disable the previous accounts. GjonPreni (talk) 23:17, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The policy it's breaking is WP:SOCK. However I'm willing to assume good faith that it's not your account and unblock this account, on the condition that you note on your userpage that the other accounts are yours (see the suggested template below):
{{User alternative account name|Seventhegeneral|Geechiedan}}
You may also wish to use {{User shared IP address|SevSaddam}} to make that connection clear. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 05:06, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

i agree and will do thank you GjonPreni (talk) 21:09, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This template is being used upon request of administrator so that the connection between all prior accounts are made here.

This user may sometimes share an IP address with SevSaddam.
