Proposed deletion of Jaroslav Peregrin

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jaroslav Peregrin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

notability not established

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Postcard Cathy (talk) 04:41, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please feel free to propose the stub for deletion again. Peregrin is a well-known, front-line academic, who publishes original research regularly. However, a good deal of his work is in Czech, and third-party treatment is mainly to be found via citations. It is certainly likely to be hard work to expand the biography outside interaction with journal articles ... at least at this stage. My guess is the Peregrin biography is a long-term project, but why not start now? His work is already available to the project as reliable sources, why not give readers at least a little extra information, beyond simply his name? Indeed, not on the Orient Express, but on the blue seats of the occasional Tangara stopping at Blandwich Heights (or some name like that). ;) Harold Philby (talk) 14:53, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from D. Reidel, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. And do not use misleading edit summaries: the conglomerate , not D. Reidel, holds that claim to fame. ninety:one 16:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, nice to meet you. If you seriously think the history of Reidel is not part of the history of the second largest academic publisher in the world, you are entitled to your opinion and to discuss it with whoever you like. I would recommend you use the talk page to ask any questions. I will be very happy to educate any users, administrators or not, who are fellow students of life the universe and everything. Have a nice day. Harold Philby (talk) 16:57, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you disagree with what has happened, please follow the procedure which has been quite clearly explained. Thank you. ninety:one 17:05, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take that as an apology. Accepted. Have a nice day. Harold Philby (talk) 17:12, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:COINjournal.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
