Long Walk of the Navajo
[edit]Hi, Netherzone here. I think you are the same editor as the IP I communicated with re: the article Long Walk of the Navajo. I managed to find enough images on Commons and also on the internet (that were old enough to be out of copyright) to create a gallery for the article. These images are clickable for readers to see larger versions. You can view the code in editing mode to see how to create a gallery. I also found the left hand side of the Yazzie mural, which is in the gallery. Hope you find the new tools and editing privileges that come from registration useful. Netherzone (talk) 18:31, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yep, it's me! I already regret the username, but whatever. (They stopped showing my stats on XTools!) I love what you did with the article and it's a great a model to follow! Thanks for all the help too. :) OnlyRegisteredUsersMatter (talk) 18:34, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- OnlyRegisteredUsersMatter, I think the user name is funny. If you really hate it, there is a way that you can request to change it. Info here: Wikipedia:Changing username. Also, if you want to alert an editor that you have replied to their comment on your own talk page, or an article talk page, use the "ping" feature - write it like this: {{ping|name of user here}} (ignore the no wiki code in my edit), just use the double brackets, the word ping, the "pipe" symbol: |, (not a capital I) is is usually found above the backward slash on a most keyboards, and closed double brackets. BTW I got your thanks. You will begin to see your stats moving forwards on Xtools on the registered account. If you are interested in service awards Wikipedia:Service awards based on your edits you can combine your IP edit count with your registered acct edits. Netherzone (talk) 18:46, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
Username
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "OnlyRegisteredUsersMatter", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is disruptive to have a username that suggests that IP users are not allowed or do not "matter". See WP:DISRUPTNAME.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Meters (talk) 04:10, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for changing your username. Meters (talk) 05:13, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Meters: So much easier than arguing about it or trying to always explain it's a joke. If you see my above convo, I regretted it almost as soon as I made it. (The Conway Twitty reference is much better!) Have wonderful day! It'sOnlyMakeBelieve (talk) 16:45, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly..Slatersteven (talk) 16:43, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 21:14, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Please note in the edit summary when you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD or AFD). Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:15, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Awww, but that would kill my man of mystery vibe ;) It'sOnlyMakeBelieve (talk) 21:32, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 17
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paradis. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

What happened?
[edit]I saw the message on your user page. What happened? If you had a confrontation with another user, there are ways that you can seek help or get advise on how to deal with resolving problems. You have a lot to offer the encyclopedia and it would be sad to see you leave because of a disagreement with another editor. Sometimes things get a bit enflamed on WP, but 9 times out of 10 they can be resolved. Netherzone (talk) 15:27, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
OK, I saw the ANI thread, and it looks like admins have reverted his threatening comment. No one should be outed or bullied here, and if you feel unsafe you can get what is called a "clean start" WP:CLEANSTART where you abandon this account entirely, and start a new one that is not linked to this account at all. It's different than renaming the account. If you go that route, you might want to edit in different subject areas for a little while. I'm very sorry to hear this has happened to you. I've also had to deal with abuse on WP and you did the right thing to report it immediately. There were times when I failed to report it and later regretted my hesitation. Netherzone (talk) 15:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Netherzone: IDK. I wanted something to in the last weeks/months of isolation and thought contributing on subjects I had access to would be useful and fun (New Mexico is rather poorly covered) but it doesn't seem worth it. The guy who bugged me uses his real name and identity on here. I looked him up and he's just a mess. He's sort of a failed gadfly that was spit out the bottom of academia a few years ago for his slimy behavior. He bullies people on Twitter and condescends to everyone. He desperately wants to be an authority figure, I think. Just being involved in something that's so important to someone like that make me feel like this is a waste of time. Maybe someday. 2600:1011:B068:CBE1:C879:F354:1E13:621B (talk) 14:23, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- @It'sOnlyMakeBelieve: I am not an administrator nor any sort of mediator, so I do not believe that I can help you with these issues, other than to point to a few essays that I think are helpful. I'm sorry that you have had problems here, but your comment above about another user is phrased as a personal attack - see Wikipedia:No personal attacks. That must stop or you will get blocked or banned. A lot of problems can be avoided if you focus on content not other contributors. This link may be helpful: Wikipedia:Civility. Civility is a two-way-street. Here is another link that may be helpful, it's about chilling out: Wikipedia:Staying cool when the editing gets hot. Good luck and be well.
