Speedy deletion nomination of Lisa Maxwell (singer, songwriter)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Lisa Maxwell (singer, songwriter) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]Hi, thanks for message. I deleted your article because
- it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that she meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to her, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what she claims or interviewing her or her management.
- You gave some references, but they were not in-line so we can't tell what fact each is supporting, and in any case most did not meet the criteria linked above. Put your references, if you can find some suitable ones, in the the text following the fact each supports using <ref>[url description]</ref>. Then {{reflist}} at the end will automatically generate a numbered list
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Just one examples of a claim presented as fact: Her soaring vocals were an exciting feature, that's an unsourced opinion not verifiable fact
- If you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it. In particular, if you work directly or indirectly for her or an associated company, or otherwise are acting on her behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly. Regardless, if you are paid directly or indirectly by the person or an affiliated company you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jammin75. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jammin75|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.
Before I restore the text to a draft page, please
- Respond to the COI query above
- Make sure you can find independent third-party references, if you can't, she's not notable and you are wasting your time
- Please attempt to follow our rules. I notice you were warned three times about removing tags. If there's a fourth occurrence of disruptive editing, I will block you
- Ignore the other Lisa Maxwell article, it's rubbish and not a suitable model.
Let me know if you wish to proceed Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:45, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Hi Jimfbleak, I wish to proceed editing article in draft form. I don't have a COI, I'm just a fan who wants to write about this particular Lisa Maxwell. Thanks for getting back to me and pointing out the reasons for deletion and I will follow Wiki rules and criteria to the best of my abilityJammin75 (talk)
Hi Jimfbleak, the draft for Lisa Maxwell (Singer, Songwriter) is about done. How do I get it checked so it can be possibly published on Wiki Jammin75 (talk) 00:04, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- I think SwisterTwister's comments on the draft are spot on. You have but your references in the text, which is good, but it's the references themselves that are deficient. Discogs is unlikely ever to be acceptable. Follow the link in my first reply for RS sources. She seems reasonably notable, so something in the national press, official charts or similar would be appropriate. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:04, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- I should have been clearer. Billboard and official charts are fine, its discogs that's more problematic. I can understand your frustration, but the fact that the other Lisa Maxwell's article is poor doesn't actually help you. You are on your way to an acceptable article, just grit your teeth and stick with it. if there is something that might be challenged and you can't reference it, just leave it out until you can Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:52, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- The other point is that discogs has sales links, not a good idea. If an track etc has a wikipedia article, you don't need discogs to confirm its existence Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:10, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
