Welcome

[edit]

Hello John E. Boyd and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a Help desk, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Liz Read! Talk! 21:16, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Misuse of Wikipedia

[edit]

Note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia of notable topics, not a platform to post your personal thoughts and musings. If you would like to learn how to edit constructively, please review Help:Getting started.-- Ponyobons mots 21:38, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was not a personal thing. John E. Boyd (talk) 21:39, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's your personal take on potential future events. While the material may be relevant for a personal blog or online discussion groups, it's unrelated to Wikipedia's purpose and goals.-- Ponyobons mots 21:41, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
like I said, it's not personal. John E. Boyd (talk) 21:42, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Man, it's meant to be a Scenario and how it could go, not a perdition and it's not personal. John E. Boyd (talk) 21:47, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Perdiction
John E. Boyd (talk) 21:47, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is not the place for predictions. Wikipedia includes encyclopedia articles consisting of content that is supported by reliable sources. What you are posting is your own opinion and supposition, which has no place here. Again, there are myriad venues available online for posting this type of content but Wikipedia is not one of them. It's important that you don't continue to do so, as continuing in this manner could result in a block of your account as it's disruptive and time consuming to review blatantly inappropriate content. You can disagree with our policies and guidelines, but you need to follow them.-- Ponyobons mots 21:53, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Look I know you work for this thing, you have to follow the rules, and if you don't you probably get fired. Hope you have a good day. John E. Boyd (talk) 21:58, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
None of us "works for this thing" or "have to follow the rules and if you don't you probably get fired". We are all volunteers, choosing to donate our time and effort to creating this encyclopaedia. But one of the things that Wikipedia is not is Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought. Have a good day. ColinFine (talk) 10:30, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Bro, I didn't know that ya'll were volunteers. Have a good day! 209.160.234.105 (talk) 15:53, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Let me get that strate. It's supposed to be relevant in "Wikipedia's purpose and goals." Do you have something against it or something? but still point is that nothing about it was my personal take on what can happen. John E. Boyd (talk) 21:53, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just an FYI, the article topic is already covered at Secession in the United States CiphriusKane (talk) 10:43, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
