Regarding NCAA athletic program/team names...[edit]

and your edit here. Please keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia, and therefore we base entries upon what is accurate, factual, and correct - not what your brother Joe (or anybody else for that matter) happens to incorrectly refer to a university's athletics team as. Please don't make substantial changes to articles without discussing this on the appropriate talk page. Johnleemk | Talk 19:53, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, but it doesn't hurt to discuss this with other editors. There might be a reason for this. By the way, welcome to Wikipedia. If you have any questions, just ask me on my talk page or check out WP:WELCOME for some FAQs. You can sign your name and the time with four tildes, like this: ~~~~. Have fun editing! Johnleemk | Talk 19:58, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Although I agree you probably should have discussed on the talk page what you were editing, I can still vouch for you being the prime source on the subject of "New Jersey High School Hockey." Your website started up when I was a Junior or Senior, and it's always been a fantastic resource. Please direct anybody to me if you ever get any problems on the subject in the future. Great job![edit]

With MLS player infoboxes! Keep it up. DR31 (talk) 13:33, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. Thanks for all your work on the soccer articles! You're doing a great job. Loudsox 19:04, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Open Cup[edit]

Thanks, and I appreciate your help as well. I do what I can, considering this information should have been up a long time ago. As for pre-MLS, I'll put up any information I can find. Another idea would to have pages for the previous champions and other Cup participants so they aren't highlighted in red. Give the clubs their due for making the tournament. Unspecified source for Image:ZachWells.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ZachWells.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 18:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads[edit]

Hi, I've noticed that you haven't provided source information for many of the images you've uploaded. Please make sure you provide the source and the copyright information.

Also, for images from sites like mlsnet.com, the {{Promotional}} tag is incorrect. The tag is for photos that come from press kits, or otherwise photos that are specifically marked for distribution. Please try to use free photos whenever possible and offer detailed fair use rationale if necessary.

Thanks. Ytny 04:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:DeRosario.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DeRosario.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Panarjedde 00:12, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PDL career stats[edit]

Hey, thanks for dropping me a line. I actually wondered about that myself when I was doing the updates, whether I should put them in amateur or professional - I ultimately plumped for professional because of the way the league system is structured and how USL1 and PDL are within the same overarching organization. I sought of used the UK as my starting point - a player can play for an amateur side (a non-league side) and then get transferred to a pro team, but both clubs would be listed as "pro" because they're under the same league structure. I was thinking that amateur only really applied to NCAA college soccer, and everything else should be 'pro', even if the team itself was an amateur team. What do you think?

Good to talk to someone else working on PDL and US Soccer-related topics. Keep in touch! --JonBroxton 01:13, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:George Parros.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Linking on 2007 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament[edit]

Hello. There is currently discussion on-going regarding whether each team should be linked more than once per section. Currently consensus appears to be going in the direction opposite your edits. I would suggest that you come to Talk:2007 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament#Location of teams in bracket (top or bottom) and make your comments there when you next come online to edit. If you don't, it looks like your changes may be undone. --After Midnight 0001 15:12, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:2003 College World Series logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Michael Behonick, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Michael Behonick[edit]

An editor has nominated Michael Behonick, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Behonick and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:14, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Bringhurst.jpg[edit]

File:Bringhurst.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Bringhurst Field.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Bringhurst Field.jpg]]. The article Johnny Exantus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:ATHLETE and WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiantSnowman 16:43, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jyardley! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Classes at TSU will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester, and the role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in Houston who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page. Thanks!--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:08, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Aaron Lanes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Never played in a fully pro league, fails WP:NFOOTBALL.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
