Thanks for trying to be helpful, but are you actually authorised by GUE to release their logo under a CC-BY-SA licence, which allows anybody to re-use or adapt the logo for any purpose, including commercial use? That certainly goes against what I read in the GUE Brand Standards Guide], pages 7–8 which states GUE logos and the name “Global Underwater Explorers” are trademarks ... Non-permitted Uses: Use of any altered or unofficial logo for any purpose; Use of the GUE logo to represent any non-GUE training or project. Those last two restrictions flatly contradict the licensing that you have given to the file (and the earlier version you uploaded). I've reverted your change to Global Underwater Explorers as it appears to me to be a blatant violation of their copyright of their logo. I've nominated the files on commons for deletion for the same reason. --RexxS (talk) 19:56, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for pointing this out. I work for HQ and was trying to update the logo, as the current version is an outdated screenshot. I didn't see options for the license like you reference when I added the image, clearly a function of my lack of Wikipedia experience. Any help you could provide with helping us get the logo updated with the correct version with an appropriate license associated with it would be immensely appreciated. --Kadygue (talk) 20:10, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. It needs to be uploaded here as a "fair use" logo for display on the GUE page and nowhere else. It can't be uploaded to Commons, because Commons does not accept non-free content. I've done that for you at File:Official GUE Logo - fair use only.jpg along with the required "Fair Use Rationale". I've also updated the infobox in the Global Underwater Explorers article for you. if you get a better version (a png with a transparent background would be optimal), you can upload that over the file I uploaded for you. If you have further problems, don't hesitate to drop me a note on my talk page and I'll do my best to help. Dive safe! --RexxS (talk) 20:38, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well done! You found my talk page and made a proper section at the end. I'll put my reply here, though, to keep the conversation n one place. As it happens, I have your page on my watchlist, so you can reply here and I'll notice your reply anyway.
If you follow this link → File:Official GUE Logo - fair use only.jpg ← and scroll down a bit on that page; at the bottom of the section called "File history", you'll see a link to follow labelled [Upload a new version of this file]. That's the one one you want. It will allow you to replace the logo with a better or newer one any time you want now. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 21:13, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that had previously said I couldn't overwrite. Can't seem to overwrite with a PNG, but honestly this is good enough upgrade for now. Kadygue (talk) 21:51, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would result in having to rename the file, which you don't have permission to do. You can upload the png version as a separate file by making a new upload - there's a link to upload a file in the 'tools' that are found in the left-sidebar of each page. Don't worry if you make mistakes; anything can be fixed, and I'm looking out for any problems you may run into. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 22:36, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kadygue, Welcome to Wikipedia, and particularly to diving articles. I am glad to see that you are taking good advice from RexxS. As you have close connections with the subject of the article, be careful about what you add, to avoid possible conflict of interest issues. You are welcome to discuss any material which may be open to interpretation as COI with me or RexxS on our talk pages or on the article talk page before adding it to the article, to reduce the risk of getting into a conflict with our other editors. Good independent third party references are your best support for anything controversial or any extreme claims. Data published by the organisation are good for uncontroversial facts and the organisation's published policies. Cheers, · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 20:14, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
PS. The Teahouse is reputed to be a friendly and helpful space. If you intend to edit Wikipedia extensively, they can help a lot, as the learning curve can be steep. Cheers, · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 20:24, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
