This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Barretstown castle, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.barretstown.org/content.asp?ContentId=513. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi yes,
I Work in Barretstown Castle and created the history that you see at http://www.barretstown.org/content.asp?ContentId=513. This text is my own work, I put it up on wiki because I have had a number of questions about the history of Barretstown and I believed WIKI to be a good source of information so I decided to put a page for the history of the castle up here.
Is the article going to remain on the site or must I fill in a form or some proof that I have rights to use this text and these images.
Thanks, Kev
Welcome

Copyright problems with Barretstown castle
[edit]Hello. Concerning your contribution, Barretstown castle, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.barretstown.org/content.asp?ContentId=513. As a copyright violation, Barretstown castle appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Barretstown castle has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Barretstown castle and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Barretstown castle with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Barretstown castle.

- Hi. That should be OK, but see the detailed instructions in the notice above, first and third bullet points, "If you have permission from the author" and "If you hold the copyright to the material" for what you need to do. I will take off the speedy-deletion tag for the moment. Just asserting permission is not enough, you have to release the material under the GFDL which means you agree that anyone can copy it from Wikipedia and use it for any purpose. More detail at WP:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations and WP:Donating copyrighted materials. Regards,JohnCD (talk) 12:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey Guys,
I have sent an email from my work address to Permissions, stating that this work is my own work. Is there something else I must do because when I search in Wiki for Barretstown Castle there is a big message still from the Coren Search Bot.
Am I missing something? Thanks for your help, Kev
- I think that should be OK - I've taken off the notice from Coren SearchBot (which is an automatic system). It would be useful for you to add a note to the article talk page to say that you sent the email to Permissions. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Update
[edit]We are in receipt of your letter, but do request some clarification. Please check your e-mail and, when convenient, respond. Meanwhile, the article has been temporarily blanked pending resolution of this matter. We do this just to be sure that we are protecting copyright until we have a usable release. Likewise, I have "redirected" your userpage here, since it contains some of the same text. Once the permission letter is processed, the material will be restored.
Thank you for your interest in donating this material to Wikipedia and your patience with the process. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
