Speedy deletion nomination of Mach-Hommy
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mach-Hommy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Tinton5 (talk) 21:54, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Mach-Hommy
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Mach-Hommy, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at articles for deletion. (See section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) If a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. [edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:03, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- I have received your email, and there is no need for private handling. Please ask your question here, on my talk page, or not at all. You can do so simply by editing the page and adding your message at the bottom. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:50, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
why was the article deleted if all content is verifiable by independent sources which were cited? are there any edits which would allow the article to be published?
- First, since you repeatedly created promotional content, I would ask if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment. If so, our terms of service require that this be disclosed as detailed here. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:53, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
I am not employed by any entity to create the content. I am simply a member of this artist's audience who believes that the story is notable and unique enough to be catalogued by Wikipedia. The content I created is an account of events which have been documented by the cited sources. In fact, there was an existing Wikipedia article on the artist which was edited for accuracy; that version and subsequent have been deleted as you are aware. Since then I have been attempting to correct the edit to allow the content to be republished.
In my view, similar to every artist article catalogued by Wikipedia the content is descriptive, an explanation or account of events, not a promotion. In the attempt to find the line which has been crossed, perhaps if you can share your view on what makes the content promotional the issue can be corrected.
- Very well. Some examples, but far from the only problems: "Known for luxury, fine art, exclusivity and culture..." (this is just fluff), "was inspired by a painting of the same name hand-crafted by Mach-Hommy in late 2015." (not "hand-crafted", "painted by" will suffice), "has collaborated with a wealth of artists" (again, "wealth of" is fluff), "and sold albums priced up to US$1,000.00 first through Bandcamp and now direct to consumer through www.mach-hommy.com." (the link there is entirely inappropriate; if it's his official site, it may go at the bottom of the article in an "External links" section, not where it suggests people can buy things there). That's not an exhaustive list, but it's some of the worst ones. The sources are also of pretty questionable reliability, many appear to be written anonymously or pseudonomously and be more blog-style pieces, and one is an interview, which does not count toward notability since it is not independent. The article actually states he avoids publicity, which may be true, but if there isn't a substantial amount of reliable and independent source material about him, it would be inappropriate for us to have an article about him at all. But regardless, the article should avoid fluff phrases and adjectives, be rather dry (think of what you'd expect to read in an encyclopedia), and stick to only facts verified by reliable, independent sources. Thank you. I will edit accordingly. There is a message posted which explains that the artist as a topic is protected and that only administrators can create the article. Are you an administrator who creates articles? If so, may you post an article that is acceptable? In the alternative, I am willing to make the edits given the opportunity.
- You will need to start the article as a draft, at Draft:Mach-Hommy (just click that red link to get started on it). Once you believe it's properly referenced and ready for mainspace, have it reviewed by articles for creation. If AfC accepts the draft, I will unprotect the page so that the draft can be moved in as an actual article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:24, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- By the way, I see you already got the Teahouse invitation above, and I'd really invite you to use it if you have general questions about editing. The folks there are really helpful and happy to point you in the right direction. Just click where it says "Click here to ask a question", and you can get some advice on whatever you might need.
