Welcome!

Hello, Lichenicolous, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Exidia repanda, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Exidia repanda requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi, I noticed it had been about 3 hours, and you did not fill in the actual article text, so I have marked it for deletion. Please feel free to recreate it if you have content for the article. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 05:52, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @IAmChaos! Thank you so much for the welcome and all the information above. I didn't realize the content needed to be added so quickly. I started that page last night, but decided the evening had closed and I needed to get to sleep. I'll keep that timeframe in mind for the future, and better time the page creation. Lichenicolous (talk) 14:46, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey no problem, you can always work on a draft, such as att Special:MyPage/Exidia repanda, and then when done, Move it to article space Happy Editing--IAmChaos 19:40, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your question at User:TheAafi's page

[edit]

I noticed your question there, and wanted to point you to wikiedu, their wiki page is here, on meta. You may also want to reach out to any of the Wiki Education Foundation staff, or at the Education Noticeboard for more information. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 05:59, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this tip and your input, @IAmChaos! I had looked into them, but it seems like they operate on a timeframe and scale that might not fit our situation at the moment. I think the Articles for Creation - where students propose articles for creation might be better fit. Open to any other thoughts or recommendations you might have on that front. Thank you! Lichenicolous (talk) 14:55, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
AfC is a great tool, but I will point out that if you have a specific timeframe, they are backed up to four months right now, so whatever works better for you. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 19:42, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Funneliformis mosseae moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Funneliformis mosseae, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your draft article, Draft:Funneliformis mosseae

[edit]

Hello, Lichenicolous. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Funneliformis mosseae".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Hey man im josh (talk) 18:34, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Hey man im josh! Thanks for checking in. I honestly completely forgot that that page was still sitting active in draft space. Yes, it can certainly be deleted. I will see if I am able to figure that out on my end in case that saves time for admin. Thanks again! Lichenicolous (talk) 19:16, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Lichenicolous. You will never be able to delete pages yourself, you will only be able to tag them for deletion. After tagged, admins will review the page and criteria and then decide whether to remove the tag or delete the page. The page that I mentioned has already been deleted by an admin, so nothing needs to be on your end! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:18, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see thanks for the info @Hey man im josh. And yes - it seemed to have been taken care of very quickly! Glad it's all wrapped up, and thanks for your time. Lichenicolous (talk) 19:20, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @I dream of horses. Thank you for your note! Yes, some of these pages still need development at the moment, and they will be further addressed prior to the end of the weekend. Our group is aiming to increase the presence of fungal species described in the Wikisphere by identifying those that are currently lacking pages, but contain information in the scientific literature. I have been elected as the page creator, and others have scoured the literature on each respective species. We planned to time it so that page creation and further page development happened nearly synchronously, but it seems at least a few pages haven't quite hit that mark. I assure you, however, that they will be revisited very soon. Of course, if something is left untouched moving forward, I respect the decision of the Wikipedia Community to modify or flag the page deletion. Our goal is to help, not hinder! Though a bit of time to keep things moving forward would be appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.
Cheers - Lichenicolous (talk) 17:41, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lichenicolous Who is "we?" I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 18:14, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the adding of categories, reference section, etc. is important enough that you really do need to do it upon article creation. So basically, what I've been doing to the articles you're creating. The addition of a stub template isn't quite as urgent, but it seems that you can just add {{fungus-stub}} to every article you're creating.
I've seen a few too many people make an article, probably intending to come back, and then they just abandon the article they've created; they've probably forgotton. And that's just with one article. There's a potential for you to create dozens of articles. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 18:21, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @I dream of horses. Thanks for your continued feedback. We're a group of collegiate and graduate student who study fungi. I apologize! I didn't realize I was creating a series of tasks to be done by others. I thought I remember the references section header adding automatically once you include an inline citation; is that not the case? Also, how would I go about adding something like {{fungus-stub}} via visual editor? Your input is very much appreciated. Thank you again! Lichenicolous (talk) 18:35, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A reference section is technically created; however, you need to add ==References== {{reflist}} so to make sure it's displayed in the correct location as the article develops.
I'm not sure if you've contacted the WikiEdu Foundation. Doing so is a de facto requirement to help prevent/resolve situations such as this one. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:16, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@I dream of horses Ah, I see. Is there a way to do that via Visual Editor? I found something online essentially saying you just needed to add the header yourself (https://dashboard.wikiedu.org/training/students/sources/add-a-citation). Does that seem accurate? Lichenicolous (talk) 19:26, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then, after it says to add {{reflist}} right after, in this paragraph:
Hit the enter key to create a new line. Then go up to the toolbar again and click Insert. Then select Template from the drop-down menu that appears. When the "Add a template" interface appears, type Reflist in the box. Click the "Add template" button next to the box, and then click on the blue Insert button in the top right corner. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 02:07, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you so much @I dream of horses! I apologize again for creating work for others - yourself included. I will be sure to do this moving forward. I appreciate you taking the time to point this out and walk me through how to be a better member of the Wiki Community! Many thanks again :) Lichenicolous (talk) 14:59, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I think I figured out how to add {{fungus-stub}}. Though, do that just flag it as a stub? Thanks for your continued assistance. Lichenicolous (talk) 18:51, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It flags the article as a stub in case it doesn't get expanded later; if it does get expanded enough to require sections, you then remove the template. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:17, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, great! Ok. I will definitely start adding that, just in case. Very much appreciated :) Lichenicolous (talk) 19:26, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
