Problems with upload of File:Abernathy publication.jpg[edit]

Image permission problem with Image:Abernathy publication.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Abernathy publication.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. Kathleen Q. Abernathy - apparent conflict of interest[edit]

I see that you are the librarian at the law firm where Ms. Abernathy is now employed. You should review the material at WP:Conflict of Interest to consider whether your contributions to her page are within the spirit of Wikipedia. Your decision to seek guidance at Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests‎ showed good instincts but your wholesale reversion of edits by disinterested editors undermined that effort. Please understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a networking service (a la LinkedIn) and that articles must be written from a neutral point of view, with an eye to encyclopedic content and not professional promotion. Thank you. Actually, this article was created by Ms. Abernathy's previous firm. When she joined our firm last year, I starting editing it for her. I understand how Wikipedia operates, however, she asked that I request the article's removal. But from the comments posted by another of your colleagues, I see that this request is probably not going to be possible. I will let her know.

Deletion request[edit]

Saw your deletion request. I am afraid that it's not quite as simple as that. Now that the article has been edited by editors other than its creator, it does not qualify for speedy deletion at the creator's request, because you don't own the article. IMHO none of the other speedy deletion criteria apply here. Nor do we delete an article at the subject's request except in exceptional circumstances, and COI is not such a reason. So the best thing to do is let the article develop. If there are issues of unsubstantiated adverse comments they can be dealt with by other processes, but I don't think there is anything in this article that reaches that level. An Articles for deletion nomination solely on the basis that the subject wants it deleted is unlikely to be successful IMHO. – ukexpat (talk) 15:59, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

hi, i saw your comments about deletion. your could try to delete article, under the WP:OTRS method. i have seen some "marginally notable" people have their bios deleted. 198.24.31.123 (talk) 22:18, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
