Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Murder of Lesley Molseed does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Martinevans123 (talk) 13:51, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LouiseFeb1974. Do you know what an "edit summary" is? They do make the task of reviewing edits a great deal easier. In fact, they're required by policy (see above). Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:58, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Louise. I'm an administrator and Martin is concerned about what you're changing in this article. We have to be very careful in sensitive articles like this to get things absolutely right, and adding an edit summary would help everybody so we know what you're trying to do.
I would recommend going to Special:Preferences, clicking on "Editing" and checking "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary)". Let me know if you need any further help. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:48, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gwen West

[edit]

I noted you added that Fred West's youngest sibling, Gwen, was born in February 1951. Can you find a citation for this please? In the literature I have, I know the year of her birth, but not the date. Thank you. :)--Kieronoldham (talk) 20:18, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Louis Edwards, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Pendleton and Cheshire County. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:36, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Hipal. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Tom Jones (singer), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! --Hipal (talk) 18:13, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, LouiseFeb1974, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Edward Hallowell (psychiatrist) did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Sluggish cognitive tempo into Russell Barkley. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 21:37, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, LouiseFeb1974, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to Russell Barkley does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:
