Non-free files and rationales

[edit]

In order for non-free files such as this one to be used in articles, they need to have separate, detailed, named rationales on the image's page. As of this message, there isn't one on that image's page for this article. Do you understand?--Rockfang (talk) 08:03, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article F-104 Starfighter, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Misinformation regarding 1965 War

[edit]

Lately the 1965 War section is being edited to introduce a misinformation saying that naval hostilities took place in the 1965 war and that PNS Ghazi sank 2 unkonwn and unnamed Indian ships. So I would like those who are persistent in introducing this misinformation to name those ships. As far as I know the only Indian ship sunk in all the Indo-Pakistani War was INS Khukri which was sunk in 1971 War. Even Pakistani Navy's Official site makis no mention of Ghazi sinking any ships. I request those still in doubt to refer to the sources in the Naval hostilities sectin of articles Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

Continue the discussion on Talk:PNS Ghazi page if you are still in doubt.--UplinkAnsh (talk) 10:24, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1965 war

[edit]

Hi, I saw the content dispute brewing between yourself and another editor. Please note that you should not put Pakistan Govt.'s claims under the "neutral assessment" section. If you want to include this in the article, then you'll have to put it under "Pakistani Claims" section. But that would open the gate for including Indian claims also. Also, it is improper to call an edit vandalism when clearly it is a case of content dispute. Please exercise more judiciousness while using edit summaries in future. Thanks. Notice

[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.--UplinkAnsh (talk) 12:32, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Further to the above, you have been edit-warring on Lahore Front. This is against Wikipedia site policy and if it continues your account will be blocked to prevent disruption to the encyclopedia. It's good that you've been discussing the disputed content on the article talk page, but this does not also mean you can keep reverting the article back to your preferred version (especially when it involves removing sourced content). If you are finding it difficult to come to an agreement then you are advised to follow the steps outlined at our dispute resolution page... but don't edit war! File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Hockey-world-cup.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 19:23, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Pak-hockey-tour-call-313.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pak-hockey-tour-call-313.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 10:11, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:000000hk8.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:000000hk8.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why

[edit]

Why the image has been removed since i added the non free rationale and provided the necessary information as it was demanded. Thank you M.A.R 1993 (talk) 17:36, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Which image are you referring to? You've uploaded four of them. --Carnildo (talk) 20:00, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Non-free use rationale photo has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:21, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Last one

[edit]

The image i added last time with a non-free rationale and description but i think you didn't bother to see it. Am i right???? M.A.R 1993 (talk) 15:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing you're talking about File:000000hk8.jpg. In that case, it was deleted by User:Courcelles because it was a non-free image that wasn't used in any article. If you're talking about a different image, please give me the name of that image. --Carnildo (talk) 01:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Even though I restored the file, you still have not provided a fair use rationale. Please include the template with the 10 points covered, otherwise this will get the chop again. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It took too long for you to respond and the file was deleted again. It needed a fair use rationale and to be used.

Fill in this little form on this page:

{{Non-free use rationale | Description = | Source = | Article = | Portion = | Low resolution = | Purpose = | Replaceability = | Other information = }}

and if you have a valid reason for use I can put it in the image. See Template:Fair_use_rationale/doc for what these fields mean. Le me know when you have this info ready. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:00, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
