Mirrors[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Tetum language. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Reliable sources[edit]

Please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources. This kind of thing - citing a claim to some Quora answer, i.e. published by some random person with no indication of reliability - is not useful to make the content verifiable, and is frankly counterproductive. Besides, as someone already told you on this talk page, you cannot cite sources which simply copy Wikipedia, and I am pretty sure that Quora answer is copied from the page you tried to add it as a citation to. CharredShorthand.talk; 20:42, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To expand: think about the point of citation. It's not to put some link, any link, in that footnote so the citation needed template can go away. It's to allow readers to verify that the claim is legitimately put forth as true by recognised, reliable reporting and research on the topic. CharredShorthand.talk; 20:49, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As others have already said here, do not use sites that mirror Wikipedia as a reference. With this edit to Strait of Gibraltar, you added a reference to a site that mirrors Wkipedia, a page including the "citation needed" tags. Please ensure that you are familiar with the guidelines at WP:MIRROR (section "Things you need to know") before making any more edits. Declangi (talk) 00:20, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
