Manual of style

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia makes it harder to read. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- lucasbfr talk 12:30, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You recently added a lot of material to the above disambiguation page. A disambiguation page is however NOT an article, meaning that the content should be very limited, to just enough to allow a person to select the correct article to click on. It does not have prose text or references either. Therefore, I reverted your additions. You are very welcome to look at the (likely already existing) articles (for example at Romani people) and add any information you feel is missing. If you need any help, with this or something else, feel free to contact me here. Happy editing, MadMaxDog 08:33, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try DYK

[edit]

I believe that you are somewhat new to Wikipedia. You may not have noticed that there is a section "Did you know" on the Main Page of Wikipedia. You get a link to the Main Page on the left hand side of your page. Click that and get to the Main Page of Wikipedia. You can certainly locate the "Did you know" column. Your articles are somewhat unique and deserve to be highlighted in the DYK column. It will focus attention of many readers on your articles. For more details see Wikipedia:Did you know. One of your articles is already highlighted as a good article in Template talk:Did you know. Go to the bottom and locate your article. Please go through all the details and if you so so feel, enter your article for DYK. If you have any questions please ask me on my talk page. Regards - P.K.Niyogi 17:09, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go to Template talk:Did you know, then go to date Articles created on 24th May. Open the edit on the right hand side. Place the hook at the top of the list, sign with four tiles (~) and save. You have to do it today itself, as time is running out. If you are on line do it itself. - P.K.Niyogi 13:23, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, the above is for Vagish Shastri. For Kshetresa Chandra Chattopadhyaya you enter under articles created on 27th May. - P.K.Niyogi 13:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a hook for the above - that Kshetresa Chandra Chattopadhyaya, a scholar of Sanskrit, Veda, Pali, Prakrit and Philology, conducted a comparative study of Veda and Avesta? Self nom - . You don't have to mention me. You can change it also, make it shorter, if possible. Long hooks are rejected. P.K.Niyogi 01:22, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Upload file

[edit]

I was away for a few days and so could not reply to your query. For uploading pictures please see Upload file at the left hand side of the page. Please read what is there. As regards copyrights study the details with the pictures already there. Ideally, the picture should be taken by you. In most cases, you cannot copy pictures from books with copyright. However, very old pictures (100 years or so) have copyright expired status. Regards - P.K.Niyogi 03:38, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Manumanas! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 689 article backlog. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bina–Katni rail route, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Single track (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Purvanchal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Manoj Tiwari. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
