Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Dimitri Bertsekas[edit]

Hello! You seem to be new to Wikipedia, so let me start with some general advice: Please read and familiarize yourself with these Wikipedia policies and guidelines:

Now the specific advice: A good rule of thumb is that every paragraph should have at least one source given. (You can put in more than one if you think it needs it, and most paragraphs do need it, but give at least one.) The Biography section has three paragraphs and no sources, so you need to add at least three sources here. The Awards and honors paragraph does have one source, although it only covers the last award and there's nothing about the other three awards.

You know the subject of this article personally, but that actually makes your job harder because you know a lot of facts but you may not have published sources for them. You can't just say "I asked him", you have to give a source that readers can check for themselves.

Finally, don't agonize too much over the "sources needed" tag. It doesn't mean that your article is about to be deleted. It does mean you should improve the encyclopedia by adding sources. It's also a warning to readers that they should be wary of this article because it's not verifiable.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more advice. (P.S. Remember to sign your messages with four tildes.) --Uncia (talk) 04:18, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is a do-it-yourself system, so after you have fixed a problem you should remove the maintenance tag yourself (and say in the edit summary that you have fixed the problem). You have improved the references enough that you can remove the BLP sources tag. I think there may be more work needed before you can remove the COI tag, because most of your references are from Bertsekas himself and his writings and not from third-party sources. The COI tag was put in by MrOllie (talk · contribs); you should probably discuss this with him on his talk page to see if he is satisfied, before you remove the COI tag. (P.S. Please do not blank talk pages, even if you think the subject is closed; talk pages provide historical information.) Thanks. --Uncia (talk) 14:10, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Paul-Tseng dpb small.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Paul-Tseng dpb small.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:10, 11 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 19:10, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the image still needs some form of confirmation of the license tag. See WP:PERMISSION and WP:CONSENT for details. --dave pape (talk) 19:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Paul-Tseng 500.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Paul-Tseng 500.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 19:50, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The owner of the image needs to follow the instructions found at WP:OTRS - once the correct permission is received an admin will be able to restore the image. Skier Dude (talk) 06:11, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your user talk page[edit]

Hello, I've just discovered that you'd moved your user talk page to the talk namespace by accident. I've moved all the edits and the text back to where they're meant to be. ope you don't mind. Graham87 04:41, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
