File source and copyright licensing problem with File:2 oldBWLP 05 071 2.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:2 oldBWLP 05 071 2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 21:36, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

DO NOT upload unrelated new images on top of old ones under the same name, as you keep doing at File:Musician LP in 2001.JPG. If you want to upload your new file, do so under a new name, and add new, correct source and copyright information. Provided, of course, your image does in fact have an acceptable copyright status, which I very much doubt.

If you revert this image once more, or if you reupload it without demonstrating that it is in fact freely licensed under an acceptable license, you will be blocked from editing. Fut.Perf. 15:43, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Future Perfect,

Our management firm, Rebel One, represents LP. And I can assure you, we absolutely have the rights to this image. I'm just not computer savvy with all this code to upload the image properly? I don't know how to upload the copyright info either. My firm is legally and contractually representing the artist/singer LP.

Please tell me what copyright information you need from me, and maybe you can be so kind as to upload the image for LP since this image, is the image she wants. The current image is almost ten years old, and she'd like to have the new image which coincides with her website. www.iamlp.com.

Cheers, Michael

If you prefer the image at File:2 oldBWLP 05 071 2.jpg, and you in fact have a free copyright release for it, then by all means feel free to use it. You just need to change the article page L.P. (singer) to point to your preferred file name rather than the old one. If the subject feels seriously at unease with the old photo of her, you could in principle also propose it for deletion (see WP:FFD for process, but I can't guarantee this would be done. What you must not do is to overwrite the image file under the same title. That's because its description page contains copyright and licensing information that was placed there by the original uploader and fits the old image but not your new one, so by uploading a new file over that same page you are in effect falsifying the licensing statement.
What you also must do is to provide a proper, verifiable licensing statement for File:2 oldBWLP 05 071 2.jpg. Please write a mail from your company mail address to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia.org", stating precisely under which license you wish to release it (typically "cc-by-sa", the license we also use for text on Wikipedia). I'm new to all of this and I didn't realize I was "overwriting". Sorry for the confusion. I will take all of your advice. Thank you.

L.P. Laura Pergolizzi[edit]

Trying to be cute is not an excuse to be obnoxious she can be indexed by her stage name but she has an actual name and a set of parents. The performer indexed as Cher's actual name is still Cherilyn Sarkisian. This is supposed to be a biographical reference not a mystique seeking publicity tool. There are a sufficient number of Wikipedia acceptable reference sources that neither Laura Pergolizzi or her fans should be playing games with her biography.RichardBond (talk) 12:57, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
