Why did you delete the sourced promotional singles on Miley’s discography

“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome” are promotional singles. They are sourced. Why delete them? Was it a mistake? Theanchoviesaver (talk) 22:13, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

You can't count them as promo singles just because they were sent to one radio in Italy. The italian chart is not even on the list. They should be removed. MileyCytrus (talk) 02:40, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Miley Cyrus discography

Hey MileyCytrus, since I don't feel like getting into a potential edit war on the Miley Cyrus discography article, I'd like to start this discussion. 1st, however, I'd like to point out you didn't provide an argument for your decision, simply writing fixed in the edit summary in your first edit about this topic, so don't be surprised others are reverting your edits, since you're the one who should be providing an argument for such a big change (especially since for some reason in this case you decided to make this change only in the Miley discography article, without any change in the articles about the songs themselves, causing potential inconsistency for other readers).
I'll start with Psycho Killer. WP:SINGLE explicitly states the Italian website EarOne, which reports the songs' radio impacts in their country, is a reliable source and sufficient reason to consider this song a single; It's noted on EarOne, as well as on the similar website Airplay Control: These websites host press releases distributed by record labels which indicate that a song is available for airplay on a specific date. Since the website states A24 Music officially sent the song to radio, the song can (and somewhat should) be considered a single, even if it were just a single in Italy. There are other songs on Wikipedia that are considered singles, although their only source is being sent to Italian radio, like Hey Hey Hey by Katy Perry, Matches by Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys, and Virgo's Groove by Beyoncé, because that's reason enough for it. Your message, if being sent to 1 radio in 1 country in the whole world makes it a single to you, gives the impression you think that a song can't be considered a single in just one country, although Miley herself has singles released in only one region in her career like Start All Over (Australia) and Who Owns My Heart (Germany). You can even look at the careers of other musicians, e.g. in the Britney Spears discography article, they can also have songs released as singles in only one or a few regions, but that doesn't invalidate the authenticity of their single releases, which you can also read about in WP:SINGLE? by the way. As for songs like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun as you mentioned – As I already told someone else on my talk page, I would like to be able to consider this song as a single for a similar reason, but I can't simply because there is no date confirming when it was supposed to happen, similar to other old songs by various artists that suddenly appeared after EarOne recently revamped their website.
As for Doctor (Work It Out) and II Most Wanted. According to you, Miley can't be a co-lead artist on II Most Wanted, because that song is on Beyoncé's album. That's not an argument Miley should be credited as just a featured artist, because artists (or rather their record label releasing the songs) can credit the artists for a song however they want. If you look at the article about that album, COWBOY CARTER, you'll notice for every song on the tracklist, the additional artist is credited after with instead of featuring, indicating they're co-lead artists. This is confirmed when you look on music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, where you'll see a note confirming how they are co-lead artists and no featuring at all. This is even more confirmed when II Most Wanted was later released as a digital single (its Spotify release is literally listed in the article about the song itself), in which both Beyoncé and Miley are credited as its lead artists. If you want to be more surprised, you can check out an article about Ariana Grande's album Yours Truly, there's a song titled Popular Song, on which Ariana is only featured for MIKA, similar to how Katy Perry has songs on some deluxe versions of her own album Teenage Dream, If We Ever Meet Again and Starstrukk, on which she's also only a featured artist for Timbaland and 3OH!3, respectively. So your argument about being on someone else's album is irrelevant. Also note charts in countries like Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States also list Miley as co-lead artist. Same goes for Doctor (Work It Out), also you can notice how Pharrell Williams and Miley are listed as co-lead artists on those charts. Spotify actually lists Miley as the featured artist in an unusual way for some reason, but you can also see that on Apple Music and TIDAL, Miley is listed as a co-lead artist along with Pharrell, so most music platforms beat out Spotify alone.
