Reached GS Finals without losing a set

Hi Navops,

Please read carefully as Nadal DIDN'T LOSE A SET for reaching 2007 French Open and 2012 French Open finals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_French_Open_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_Singles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_French_Open_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_Singles

Lendl consecutive streaks

Hi, as you requested on my talk page, I'll respond to your remark here:

Hello, first of all, I didn't revert your edit. Look at the revision history, the following edit changes your numbers of 11 and 13 back to 10 and 14, this was not my edit: 19:59, 31 May 2011 Mrf8128 (talk | contribs) (61,107 bytes) (→ATP Grand slam history) (undo) Apart from that, I think your edits were rightfully reverted. The stat of 10 consecutive semi-finals means that Lendl made at least the semis in 10 consecutive Grand Slams (he did so from US Open 1985 to AusOpen 1988 -- note that AusOpen 1985 was held in December). It does not mean that Lendl made at least 1 Grand Slam semifinal during 10 consecutive calender years (this number is 11 as you correctly find). So I think there is a simple misunderstanding going on, thanks for your efforts in improving the article. Gap9551 (talk) 19:56, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Masters series records

  • Yeah, I saw it. 03md 18:06, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Sorry mate, I had been making great progress with the doubles table here but went to Wimbledon on Thursday and have only just got back on wikipedia. Great work with the articles. 03md 11:54, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Yeah mate, Wimbledon was great. I saw Sharapova-Lisicki, Kvitova-Azarenka and a couple of doubles matches. I agree with you about Murray - I knew he would lose focus when he was in control, but saying that Nadal played possibly the best I have seen him play, especially considering he was supposedly injured. The table looks great. BTW, if you want to contact me via email its d_matcham@hotmail.co.uk - sometimes easier than wiki talkpages. 03md 17:16, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Colin Dowdeswell

Hi your previous edit here Grand Prix Tennis Championship Series 1970-1989 Colin did indeed represent Rhodesia and also GB at various times during his career information from official sources here ATP Doubles Draw Toronto 1978 state he was representing Great Britain during the Canadian Open 1978.--Navops47 (talk) 10:15, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. ATP.com has a gliche in their recording keeping system, that all their records for a player will give the country of representation as the last country they ever represented, in cases where a player switched representation - according then for them, Ivan Lendl is American, though he only started representing the States, officially, in the early 1990s; a lot of South Africans likewise switched American or British rep., as also there was Libor Pimek, another Czech. to Belgian, of course good ol' Greg Rusedski, and some others includ recently Dustin Brown and Artem Sitak. ATP.com's records should, according to this gliche, say Dowdeswell only ever represented GB. (But are you saying that their records do indeed show that he represented Rhodesia at times too??) The fact is Dowdeswell represented Rhodesia on tour in 1978, and not GB, but one would have to dig up a newspaper article from the time as a source, I guess; and till there is such as source, by WP rights, please revert - I may get around to adding a contention or challenge tag, or sth. to the page at some point Mayumashu (talk) 10:43, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Agree I was about to add additional notes about this issue within the article for reader guidance which I'll do shortly thankyou--Navops47 (talk) 10:58, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm glad to hear you are aware of the matter and adding the note will be just the thing till that elusive article is found. As for free online sources from the North American perspective, I tend to run across the first paragraph or part of New York Times articles for tennis results from the whole of the 20th century (where subscribing to their site gives access to the whole article or paper edition), but it'd be a lucky hit for one for this particular tournament. (Btw, a couple times I've emailed ATP.com, the first time over a year ago, mentioning the records error, in case they don't know of it or cared, but accuracy of detail is very likley not their focus.) Another route might be a published source that says Dowdeswell started reprensenting GB in 1984 (or whichever year it was exactly), and give that source on any tournament drawsheet WP page that includes a Dowdeswell result. At any rate, all the best, particularly with the WP tennis edits Mayumashu (talk) 11:11, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

apology

I am sorry for using the word stupid. re: the superclub. I didn't revert, actually. I removed a bit of sentence that was badly worded. It didn't make any sense tacked onto the end of the paragraph like it was. I didn't think anyone was paying attention.◦◦derekbd◦my talk◦◦ 13:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Grand Prix Tennis Championship Series 1970–1989

Explain me please, what is the source of data for "Grand Prix Tennis Championship Series 1970–1989" page. Whether that compilation is based on historic division or your own abstract concept. Are you able to clarify why for example there is Johannesburg in 71' tournaments; meanwhile ATP doesn't include the same tournament in the same year as an official event. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edamian (talkcontribs) 07:59, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Very simple when the ATP took over the men's tour in 1990 they re-named the 9 most prestigious events from 1989 into the ATP Championship Series Single Week. The ATP and ITF sites are not completely updated as I have spoken with there information departments on the phone, you yourself have argued that fact on wiki tennis talk pages in the past the ITF archives has the South African Open event listed in 1969, 1971,, 1973, 1974 is missing 1972 ITF Archive 1969 there were 2 events being held in South Africa one a WCT event and the other Grand Prix. The article is there purely as a comparison prior to 1990 the Grand Prix tour had three tiers of events The Championship series referring to the fact that they were historically National Championships in most case's like South Africa Germany Monte Carlo US Pro Tennis Championships the second tier events were called Super Series and the third tier events were called Regular Series. The ATP adopted all of these names from the Grand Prix early in 1990. You yourself have argued about ATP World Tour Records not being correct or fair and I agree that article does not show anything from 1968 to 1971 and you are right should not included Grand Slame records as they are infact ITF records for example the point of my article is to show that these were the top events for those 19 years in terms of Prize Money, Ranking Points, Field Strength and Status amongst Players and were in fact the precursors (predecessors) to the current ATP World Tour 1000 events. --Navops47 (talk) 12:04, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
