Re: PUNK-OUT! wiki page To: Nawlin

I just noted the 'Punk-Out!' page deleted here. I wonder if you might reconsider with a re-write. Several people involved with the program have gone on to success.

Joshua Fried - Is now with Radio Wonderland, a NYC music/art project. His father is Gerald Fried, the noted television and film composer responsible for music in the original 'Star Trek' program.

Jon Reis - Is a nationally successful photographer, based in Ithaca, New York. He documented the shows in black-and-white photos.

Richard Hell - Submitted an autographed copy of his book to Rod Ice, program host, in recognition of his work.

Robert Gordon - Had band members visit the show in 1979.

Andy Hilfiger - Brother of Tommy, worked with members of the crew in a band called 'Absolute Zero.'

The Ramones - Were featured in a 1979 report about their concert in the area. The group now has legendary status.

Just came here to check a link to info on the New Zealand writer Jamie Waugh, found it strange that it had been deleted even though there is a 2 page article in this weeks listener (one of new zealands largest circulation magazines) all about him and his work, probably be prudent to put it back up if possible... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamespoltroon (talkcontribs) 04:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tremendosaur Deletion[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki, I was just about to start a wikipedia page for the Sketch Comedy group called Tremendosaur and I saw that a previous entry had been deleted by you. I was wondering why you deleted the previous page, so that I do not start a new one that will also be deleted.

Thanks!

Ecademy Deletion[edit]

The Ecademy article was allowed to stay after a long deletion discussion. Why has it now been deleted? I put a lot of effort into verifying all the information and ensuring it was accurate. It is a notable website with a 10-year history. Maybe not so much in the US, but in the UK certainly. Wikipedia isn't US-centric is it?

Sorry this was my first wiki page and I was not fully aware of procedures. I produced it because I noted that another page was independently making reference to the choir. Please can you resurrect the page if possible.

Gabrielle Roth[edit]

I was the creator of this page, and I guess I neglected to put it on my watch list. I strongly disagree with the deletion of this article and your eveluation that it is a vanity page. I have absolutely no connection to this artist, but she is very well known as a performer, workshop facilitator, recording artist (both audio and video), and to a lesser but growing extent as an author. I don't know how to retrieve my work, and I was not left a notice on my talk page that this action was being considered. I would like to have a chance to work on it and improve it. Can you tell me how to retrieve the original text?Rosencomet 19:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that on the article for Metallica there are a lot of articles in the singles section of songs that weren't released as singles. I'm not sure how to fix this error myself, so I thought I'd report it to you. You can find a list of actual singles metallica has released on their website. www.metallica.com/discography, click on the album and it will give you a list of singles released from that album.

Beesker[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki,

Thank you for your email explaining that you have speedily deleted my Beesker page because it has not been shown to be notable. This was my first effort at putting up a Wikipedia page, and it may be that I do not fully understand the requirements.

I would like to suggest two reasons why Beesker might reasonably be regarded as notable:

a. Beesker (at www.beesker.com) is, so far as I am aware (and I have searched pretty thoroughly) the world's first and only directory of 'best on topic' websites. There are many directories of recommended websites, but Beesker is I believe unique in selecting the world's best website on each topic.

b. The British Libary (the UK's national library) regards Beesker as being sufficiently notable to justify having selected it for preservation in its permanent archive.

I hope you will feel that these are grounds for regarding Beesker as notable, and I look forward to hearing from you further.

With best wishes, Yours, Alex Reid Cambridge UK —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexreid2 (talkcontribs) 13:47, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Songs written by Milton De Lugg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Songs written by Milton De Lugg has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Songs written by Milton De Lugg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi Nawlin, I posted about this on your user page last month but you missed it.

I created an article for NetAlert -- even though it was only a couple of sentences. You then deleted it within a couple of days. If you think the subject was not notable, you are wrong. A Google search for NetAlert reveals over 400,000 pages. Let me know if I can create the article again, or if you can "undelete" it. Dr. Steel article[edit]

Greetings. I am writing to discuss with you the re-creation of an article on the musical artist Dr. Steel. I understand that, in the past, many articles have been made that were of questionable veracity and I assure you that what I have planned will be well within the guidelines of Wikipedia. I have drafts drawn up for Dr. Steel himself and for his two released albums, if you would like to see these I will gladly send them to you. Speedy deletion of Fearscape[edit]

I noticed that you have deleted the Wikipedia article of Fearscape, I made two paragraphs of this before but the person above said the stuff about Dr. Steel =(, so i'll give a few points why I belive they should have an article.

  1. They have released two LPs (full length albums) on Rowe Records (Mortification, Mortification has released some albums on Rowe Productions, Mortification is the biggest and one of the first Christian extreme metal bands, this is a quote from their wiki; "Mortification is probably both the most successful extreme metal band to come from Australia and the most successful Christian extreme metal group in the World", you should read their article to see how significant they are and how they contribute to rowe productions status. read 5. in WP:MUSIC) and an EP. (short album)
  2. They were the 2nd main metal band at the Black Stump Festival (black stump is a huge christain music festival) Fearscapes Page On The Black Stump Website <<< "Currently regarded by many as the premier Christian Metal band in Australia". The main band being Mortification, you can see how significant they are in their wiki and how they contribute to the status of the Black Stump Festival and Fearscape attended the same time Mortification did (07 Black Stump Festival).
  3. They're big in the Australian metal scene. <<< don't have any sources as of yet but will get some soon.

NyLon[edit]

Hi! See also [2]. I didn't make up this term. There is such a thing as a "NyLon commuter" to give you just one example. BTW I live in London so I know this term is widespread. Don't rush and delete this article just because. Can't you see it is used in the prestigious FT ? If they gave it a greenlight why erase it? The term already exists, we cannot do anything about it! Please! Apostolos Margaritis 13:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You've got NO RIGHT to decide on your own what to delete or not just because it happens that you dislike an article. And it is not used ONLY in ONE FT article. Why are so biased not to say plainly incorrect as to this issue of the so called "one" refference? There're more than that. One, two..three...Learn how to count. It's arithmetics. Let me be clear: I'm gonna mobilise wiki users who are gonna defend the right of this article to exist.Apostolos Margaritis 15:26, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nawlin, listen carefully will you?[edit]

I will just let know OTHER wiki-users (and not clones of myself or "puppets") that you want to delete a legitimate article which is backed by references WITHOUT giving any VALID, RATIONAL reason to doing so. It is their right to find yout that there are nasty censors lurking around here who ultimately are anti-wikipedia. I'll go that far and contact the founder of wikipedia and explain your self-tailored, private policy of deletion which ignores all the rules of the common sense INCLUDING the precepts of the policy of WIKIPEDIA themslelves. And many wiki users, I'm sure, will like to have a word with you as to your "original" way of bullying people around and threatening to wiping off their articles, again, with NO VALID reason given. You are not allowed to impose your own rules here, I'm afraid. Better create your own wikipedia and set out its rules according to your principles. But this is not your PRIVATE DOMAINE, is it really so difficult to understand? Apostolos Margaritis 18:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Foxy Shazam[edit]

Come on... I made this page for my love of the band. They are rising in popularity and even toured throughout North America for eighteen months straight. They just got a record deal and they are coming out with a new album in January with the management of the lead singer of The Number Twelve Looks Like You. They are a huge influence; especially in the Cincinnati area. The page I created was the beginning of a more extensive overview of the band as I would be adding to it in weeks to come as I hope some others would. Please undelete the page as it is a very good band just making there big break hopefully even with some radio time. I had just created the page and it was like two in the morning. I was planning on working on it for a while and making it better quality with better sources. Just give it a week or two. At least undelete it so i can copy my code and so I dont have to start all over again when I remake it. I just need to add more reliable/acceptable sources which I was overwhelmed to pause on because nature created a sense in me to sleep. Please just undelete it so I can make a copy of the code and work on it. Just so you know as of now their official website is under construction and will send you directly to their myspace for the time being.

I have made some updates to the foxy shazam page and I would like you to take a look at it for me to make sure it is up to standards. Please send me anything else i can do to improve it...but if it is good enough for the time being please tell me so i can post it as a true article under the name foxy shazam.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryanlammi (talkcontribs) 20:24, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Nawlinwiki, You speedily deleted an article I started about the first organic winery in Western Australia's Swan Valley. This winery is notable I think because a. It is the first certified organic winery in the district and 2. It is using environmenally sustainable practices. I will have another look at it and try to make sure the references support notability - but I am quite confused as to why then is there an article about the Feral Brewing Compnay on Wikipedia that is just a blatant advertisement with no notable attributes at all. Also, a big wine corporation that is in the same region has an article about itself on Wikepedia (Houghton Winery). Can you see why I am confused as to why my article was deleted? What should I do to avoid being deleted again before I can finish the next attempt - write ((hang on))? Maria Takagi[edit]

Hi, NawlinWiki. I've just noticed that another editor started an article on the AV idol Maria Takagi, and that you deleted it. I've been preoccupied with other articles, but I certainly believe Maria Takagi warrants an article. You can see a few sources and news articles on her at Chronology of adult videos in Japan, 2002 (the Mainichi links have now gone out of date, but can no doubt be located at Internet Archive, I'll do that later). I think that the little text I can see at Maria Takagi-- "Maria Takagi is a former Japanese teen pop idol, who is now Japan's highest paid porn star, and one of the top 5 highest paid porn stars ..."-- is certainly an assertion of notability, and would think that the article at least deserved an AfD, at which point, if it had come to my attention, I would have happily added sourcing and content. Anyway, if you don't feel the article as it stood (I never saw it, so cannot comment on it) deserves to be reinstated, I hope, at least, you won't object if I create it later. Regards. Help concerning article : Jack Clift[edit]

Hi Nawlins,

I am not sure if you can help me with this. I noticed that you once deleted a page about the composer Jack Clift.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=delete&user=&page=Jack+Clift

I have attempted to add content to this page twice, and it was subsequently deleted by another admin: "Number 57".

I have since provided this adminsitrator with links to third party sources, newspaper articles, music industry awards to verify the notability of the subject.

He refuses to even acknowledge me let alone answer my questions, which is odd, because I have been very cordial. At the least I have been asking to be supplied with the deleted text or for him to undelete the article, so I may add the new sources to the page.

I hope its not inappropriate to contact you regarding this matter, i have just become very discouraged by the lack of communication, especially since I have spent considerable effort to find sources that show notability. Do you have the ability to send me the deleted text?

Speedy deletion[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki, I just received your notice about speedy deletion but I didn't completely understand why. I put the article about GoBC, which supports many local nonprofit and volunteer organizations in BC, up because people asked me to put some information about our company up on Wikipedia to make it easily accessible. It can be argued that this article is promotion about our company but how could you write this article different in order to make it not appear promotional? Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

I usually find that anyone who removes a prod without a message on the talk page of whoever put the prod there... doesn't do enough to warrant the prod being taken away. ie if someone takes a prod away with no comments then I usually go straight to afd... Eric Yenz Pang[edit]

The page created for Eric Yenz Pang in no way falls within the category of speedy deletion. Eric is a very prominent figure in Australian politics, and, as President/Convenor of the NLC (http://www.nlc.edu.au/), is an important voice for international students in Australia, as well as being a major powerbroker in the National Union of Students, and has been often quoted and cited in the national media. Other participants in the National Union of Students have consistently been voted by Wiki editors to be worthy of having a page, for instance Mathew Chuk and Rose Jackson. Frameworth Sports Marketing[edit]

According to the rules to set up a page for a business it has to be noteable and not advertising. I set the page up in a way so it did not promote the business it just stated who the were and some of their prime athleats. They have been noted in many places including espn.com (dont have this on me right now but it can be found upon request) and an artical from the Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW on Sunday, September 4, 2005 where it states facts about the company including Frameworth Sports Marketing, the Canadian high-end memorabilia company that fans can link to through Crosby's Web site, has for the last six months been out of stock of 50 percent of the Crosby items they offer, according to company president Brian Ehrenworth.

Sports representation agency IMG handles Crosby, and they first approached Frameworth about selling his memorabilia when he was just 16.

"It was the first time we've ever gotten involved with a player at that age," Ehrenworth said. "IMG wanted to work with someone who could plan the future of his memorabilia and merchandise. Even at that age, they were thinking about a game plan."

Among Frameworth's other clients are some of the best to ever play the game: Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr, to name a few. A signed Lemieux Team Canada jersey sells on the Web site for $789.99. A signed Crosby Team Canada jersey sells for $639.99.

"(Crosby is) our No. 1 seller right now," Ehrenworth said. "Over the long haul, Gretzky and Orr have been our strongest movers. But certainly in the last three to four months, it's been Sidney."

 January 16, 2006

There are two trends highly visible in today's high-stakes memorabilia market. No longer are fans purchasing autographed jerseys, then only framing them and hanging them on the walls of the basement rec room. In fact, they're wearing them as everyday casual attire -- not appropriate for casual Friday at the office, but visible everywhere else.

And, no longer is an autographed 8x10 hung only on a wall at home. Memorabilia has left the basement, and has invaded the bedrooms and boardrooms of Canadians.

According to Brian Ehrenworth, president of Frameworth Sports Marketing, the sports memorabilia market "went mainstream" in the mid-1990s.

No longer do you need to search for a store like Smith's, which closed in the late-1980s. Visit any supermarket, flea market, big-box store, or the Internet and you'll discover an endless selection of everything from Wayne Gretzky dolls to miniature NFL helmets.

Formed in 1992 as a picture frame company, Toronto-based Frameworth is now the North American leader in framed memorabilia design, the largest distributor of NHL autographed memorabilia, and one of the largest distributors of sports collectibles.

Not counting cards, Ehrenworth estimates the sports collectibles industry in Canada is worth about $2 billion annually -- and that's just the legal buy and sell market.

Memorabilia with forged autographs floods the legitimate market with millions of dollars worth of sports items.

In the U.S., FBI investigations such as Operation Foul Ball, and Operation Bullpen, have turned up warehouses full of fake autographed collectibles worth millions.

It's estimated the forged memorabilia market is worth $100 million annually in the U.S., giving new life to the old joke that, "Mickey Mantle (who died in 1995) still has one arm out of the grave to sign autographs."

Smith says he is amazed by how many Mantle autographed bats show up during his travels. "Mantle didn't sign a lot of bats," says Smith, "yet more and more show up every year. There are a lot of phonies out there."

Certificates of authenticity and numbered holograms accompany legitimate pieces of memorabilia such as those available through Frameworth.

Both Ehrenworth and Smith caution that a simple certificate of authenticity can easily be duplicated with a laser printer.

"Where the certificate comes from is the key," says Ehrenworth.

Frameworth represents leagues, teams and individual players, and sells directly to on-line customers, but counts the corporate client sector as its biggest market.

"A corporation might purchase $100,000 worth of memorabilia to give away to clients. It might give away an autographed Gretzky sweater, and it might be hung on an office wall," says Ehrenworth.

Stefanie Turnbull, director of marketing for the London Knights, says the hockey club has been in discussions with Frameworth regarding sales of official Knights products, such as framed photographs.

Coming off a Memorial Cup-winning campaign, anything adorned with the Knights logo turns to gold. This season, new products include an insulated lunch bag in the shape of a puck stamped with the Knights logo.

Game-worn jerseys have been auctioned online, and have sold for $300 at the John Labatt Centre. Turnbull says the new storefront shop, London Knights Armouries, offers the club "an opportunity we didn't have in the past.

"We sold Knights products all summer long -- jerseys, T-shirts, and small souvenir items."

While the Canadian Hockey League retains some marketing rights with each Ontario Hockey League team, the Knights control most of their own sales.

Fans at the JLC last May had the opportunity to get up close and personal with hockey's newest superstar, Sidney Crosby, who skated with the Memorial Cup-finalist Rimouski Oceanic and now plays alongside Mario Lemieux with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ehrenworth says Crosby is one of Frameworth's most sought-after clients.

MSG Collectibles: Madison Square Garden Collectibles

InsideHoops NewsWire | Nov. 15, 2006 Coinciding with the start of the 2006-07 New York Knicks and Rangers seasons, Madison Square Garden introduces Madison Square Garden Collectibles, a distinctive combination of team memorabilia available exclusively in-arena, it was announced today. Madison Square Garden Collectibles will be facilitated through Frameworth, innovators in the memorabilia business for over 15 years.

The all-encompassing Madison Square Garden Collectibles will feature an assortment of game-used jerseys and equipment from the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty, as well as from Garden boxing events, in addition to photographs, autographed items and limited edition historical pieces. As the Collectibles division expands, items from areas within the Garden will be available, allowing fans to own pieces of the legendary venue.

"Madison Square Garden, New York’s premier sports and entertainment company, is entering a new phase in its history -- we are aggressively pursuing opportunities that grow our business in new ways," said Hank J. Ratner, vice chairman, Madison Square Garden. "Whether we are developing a new business that takes advantage of the on-going history made in our arena each and every game, or developing new partnerships and platforms that extend our brands and expands our presence in sports and entertainment, Madison Square Garden is 'open for business,' and entering a period of unprecedented growth."

The collection, which ranges in price from $10 to $1,000 and higher, will showcase a constantly changing inventory of items. Fans will have ongoing access to blocks of the game-used Madison Square Garden basketball court, pieces of Rangers game-used nets and sticks, game pucks from goals scored by the Rangers on home ice, including, for example, the first puck scored by Jaromir Jagr as captain on Opening Night 2006. The Madison Square Garden Collectibles “He Shoots…He Scores” puck series will commemorate pucks scored during Rangers home games in a specially framed presentation.

"Madison Square Garden is the preeminent venue for sports," said Steve Mills, president and coo of MSG Sports. "We are pleased to provide our fans with the opportunity to take home one-of-a-kind memories created right here on the court, ice and in the boxing ring through Madison Square Garden Collectibles; we expect the diverse offerings, available at various price points, to be extremely popular."

Rangers fans will also have the opportunity to own the 50 Goal Club framed trio of photographs of Vic Hadfield, Jaromir Jagr and Adam Graves. To complete the sports Collectibles line, there will be special items that the Garden has saved for decades, such as autographed pieces of the Knicks championship team basketball courts and autographed framed photos of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier from their historic bout in 1971.

“We are excited to be working with Madison Square Garden to explore and develop collectibles that capture the imagination in new ways,” said Brian Ehrenworth, president of Frameworth. “Working with the World’s Most Famous Arena allows us to take the memorabilia industry to a whole new level and offer items that have never before been available.”

Madison Square Garden Collectibles are available at the Garden’s Double Teamed store and in the Garden mall area merchandise stands.

or how about how they hire sports stars to work there

Three months ago they were trotting on to the field at Frank Clair Stadium for the Grey Cup in front of more than 51,000 cheering fans. So, what are the Argonauts doing today?

Well, you could just walk into the Mississauga Rona Hardware store and see for yourself. Chances are Antonious Bonner knows the advantage of PVC piping and Bashir Levingston can point you to a dandy-looking new faucet.

Ordinary guys doing ordinary jobs. Such is the charm of the Canadian Football League. It remains one of the last bastions of pro sports still populated by people whose existence is not defined by the number of zeroes on the back end of their paycheque.

With the average CFL salary between $50,000 and $60,000 annually, many players hold down off-season jobs. Tony Miles and R. Jay Soward also work in Rona's Mississauga store. Running back John Williams is at the Hamilton outlet.

Kicker Noel Prefontaine works with Frameworth, a company that specializes in photo framing. "We're actually a client of our kicker," Argonauts' president Keith Pelley said. "We just bought some Grey Cup artwork from Noel."

Even the hockey Hall of Fame has chose Frameworth to partner with

Legends of Hockey Photographs Now Available Fans now have access to the largest and the most historically significant hockey photo collection in existence. I dont understand why you would include market leaders in other industries like Nike on your site but a leader of the sports marketing industry is excluded from this site.

Northern Lights and The Golden Compass[edit]

@NawlinWiki -- As you're an administrator, there's no way for me to fight you by re-adding this content. However, I feel that your removal of this discussion is biased in the opposite direction and borders on being anti-Catholic. What I wrote was a general statement of the Christian perspective of the book and Pullman's work in general, with some specific quotes from Pullman himself. I even modified my own entries on the The Golden Compass page to LIMIT discussion to the religious perspectives present in that work itself, while posting a note that religious perspectives of Pullman's other work were discussed at greater length on the main Philip Pullman page. Instead of just removing what I wrote, why don't you help me rephrase it so the discussion is still there, but it is referenced appropriately to be accepted. Please don't abuse your administrative authority. Cavalierex (talk) 18:11, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Workforce software deletion[edit]

It has just come to my attention that the article I wrote on WorkForce Software was speedily deleted back in April. You labeled it as spam and blatant advertising. I would like you to reconsider. This article was written using existing articles of other time and attendance organizations as a model, and it was done in the most objective manner possible. I don't believe I was given a fair shake here. I suggest that you take the time to re-read the article and then compare it to others in the same industry. And, I might mention, there were several white papers of considerable interest that were submitted along with this article.

Writing a marketing piece was not my intention. I strove to be objective and informative, and your deletion has does visitors to topics of this nature a great disservice.

Dear NawlinWiki, The article written for Nonsurgical Breast Enlargement is based on information that is cited in scientific journals. Can you please identify the reason for tagging it as spam and blatant advertising? The information posted was in no way meant to be vandalism. I appreciate any information you can give on this subject so we may amend the definition. Thank you. Evayo (talk) 18:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a scientifically backed alternative for breast enlargement recommended by doctors worldwide. I am simply trying to get the information about this alternative to breast enlargement available to individuals that searching for information. I have tried to be informative and not biased. This is not my company, nor am I trying to advertise the specific product. I am simply trying to define the category and make women such as myself aware of alternatives. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evayo (talkcontribs) 18:43, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to track down some of the citations in the deleted article and I can't seem to make the citations agree with the actual article titles. The individuals cited have written articles that appear in the journal, but the titles don't seem to match. I think the actual articles are behind a paywall. I strongly suspect that this is junk science with a thin veneer of peer-reviewed science on the surface; let's both keep an eye on further "developments", pardon the expression. I'm keeping an open mind, but I've seen this sort of thing before, and I bet you have too. Accounting4Taste:talk 19:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
