Tickle Cove Pond
[edit]If it was not a copyright violation, then it was still just source material, meaning it was not an article but solely song lyrics. There is a sister wikiproject, Wikisource, for such public-domain source material. It is fine to include selections of such song lyrics (or poetry, or whatever the subject of any such article happens to be), and even at times the entire work is included (though this is usually not considered the best way of handling such things, particualrly when there is little other information in the article), but there must be an article about the subject, which I encourage you to write. For some examples on how this is better done look at a few other articles on similar subjects (some I wrote are linked from my userpage, and looking at many of the Child Ballad articles should be helpful too). -R. fiend 06:45, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, that does make more sense now. So something like a histoy of the song or a recap of the song is better? What about modern uses of the song? I've put up a couple of the Child Ballads myself, when I've run across references to them from other articles The Mermaid (Child Ballad) from The Mermaid (song) (I recreated the links and references from The Mermaid (Great Big Sea)(which now redirects to The Mermaid (song).) Since it was rather sloppy (not that mine is any better, but it's more on topic)). And Captain Wedderburn's Courtship from Turn (album). I'm going to go back and see what I can do to fix them up. Is there any way that I can mark them so they don't get deleted? Thanks Nekura 07:04, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
AYBABTU
[edit]As an occasional editor of the AYBABTU article, I wanted you to know that someone has suggested that the transcript of the opening and closing dialog be deleted. Personally, I think this is ludicrous, but your support is needed to keep the information on Wikipedia. If you are in favor of keeping the text, as it is clearly used under fair use guidelines, please enter a KEEP vote on its AFD page. Thanks! --BRossow 05:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry – new errors are appearing all the time, it's impossible to correct everything. As far as help is concerned, it's up to you; this is a fairly boring job, but at least it's easy and uncontroversial. If you are interested, add your name to Wikipedia:Typo to let the participants there know that you are intending to help.
You can find lists of the most common typos and spelling errors at Wikipedia:Lists of common misspellings. Note that these lists are of course incomplete and there will be many less common errors that do not appear on those pages - so feel free to extend them. You can also find my personal summary of corrections at User:Gurch/Spelling – I have checked all of these within the last month so (hopefully) there shouldn't be too many occurences of them. I will be searching for more misspellings beginning with 'A' and 'B' over the next few days. There are others doing a similar sort of thing; User:Fuhghettaboutit is on 'O' at the moment, and there is a section of Wikipedia:Typo where you can post major mass-corrections to let others know what you have checked – Gurch 18:40, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh, just one other thing – remember to sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) – Gurch 18:42, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Yeah, when I first saw the two articles, I thought that it was just a duplicate article. Then when I realized what the person (I guess you) was doing, I waited about an hour and after I didn't see anything deleted from the original page, that's when I started touching the articles. Until I got to the disambig pages, I didn't realize that you there. Sorry about that, I hate that when that happens too. I just found out about the {{inuse}} tag last week. Pretty nifty.--Esprit15d 20:50, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Aurora Ship.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Aurora Ship.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sue Anne 08:28, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Arc vs. curvature
[edit]Greetings Nekura! Your Arc (geometry) stub may have clarified a major question I've had.
Where are the principal curvatures and are their respective radii, the "curvature in the normal section" is defined as ( is geodetic azimuth).
Would the "arc curvature" (right term?) be ? Thus the "radius of arc", or "arcradius" (I've thought "arcradius" was just another term for "radius of curvature"), would be ? Is/are there any website(s) that discuss this? Sites dealing with curvature ignore this particular relationship, and sites referencing "radius of arc" appear to be simplistically spherical in nature——I know arcradius can be extracted from the elliptical loxodromic formula (such as used by the FCC).
Arc (geometry) appears to be the ideal article for this discussion, and I'd like to get some decent sources, so that I don't have to get too involved in trying to indirectly verify the concept (such as showing how it is extractable from the FCC formula)! P=) ~Kaimbridge~ 16:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Actually, when using , wouldn't it be considered 3D, since you are starting out with the two principal curvatures and combining them——or, since they are both at a single point (just facing differently), they are "0D", therefore not adding any dimensions? ~Kaimbridge~ 13:36, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for that little "TOCright" fix on Azurite! I was frustrated by the way the TOC looked, but had no idea how to fix it. --Terry Bollinger 01:08, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. [edit]Dear Nekura
I have seen your name listed in film wiki project. And apparently you are interested in cinematic styles. Would you please take a look at the cinematic genres section at Abbas Kiarostami. I am not an expert and we want to make that section brief and compact and transfer irrelevant materials to other sections. Any helps or comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time. Notability of The Visit (band)
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Visit (band), by Miremare (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Visit (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Visit (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:54, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
You claim that WP was given permission to use this image. Can you forward that permission to us, or copy it to the talk page of the image? That will allow others to verify the permission when you are not around. Thanks, — Carl (CBM · talk) 17:29, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aurora Ship.png

AfD nomination of The Suburban Jungle
[edit]An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The Suburban Jungle. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Suburban Jungle (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Album Cover-The Mask and Mirror.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Album Cover-The Mask and Mirror.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Killiondude (talk) 00:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
[edit]I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:48, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of NeverNever
[edit]The article NeverNever has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
Proposed deletion of DST Systems
[edit]The article DST Systems has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence of passing WP:NCORP. All sources are primary. Has been tagged for bad sourcing since 2009, even the several SPAs who've added most of the text don't seem to have turned up anything for sourcing in that time. GNews hits are press releases and corporate status news.
