Orphaned non-free media (File:Unlearning_cover.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Unlearning_cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 08:31, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. File permission problem with File:Matt Brouwer - WOR(indie).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Matt Brouwer - WOR(indie).jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mlpearc (open channel) 03:41, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of A Merry Little Christmas (MB)

[edit]

Hello Northpoint777,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged A Merry Little Christmas (MB) for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, A Merry Little Christmas (Matt Brouwer).

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 14:14, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have also reviewed A Merry Little Christmas (Matt Brouwer). First off, it appears that you might have a conflict of interest regarding MB. Please review that link if you might, to ensure you comply with wikipedia's requirements. Secondly, the article makes a bunch of unsourced claims that need sourcing. Finally, the album does not appear to meet general or album notability requirements on current or searched sources, though Better Days is most likely to meet requirements (in which case the album can stand on the notability of BD). The charting is a start, but again reliable sources are needed to establish and verify claims of notability made. Thanks, ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 14:50, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Northpoint777. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Matt Brouwer, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 05:42, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Walter Görlitz. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Matt Brouwer, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 13:17, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Matt Brouwer while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. An edit identical to the one you made a few hours earlier was made by 209.169.87.174 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). Again, find a reliable source for his birth date and legal name. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:40, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note that the two edits ([1] and [2]) weren't identical. They both modified the date of birth but the actual date was different. In fact, it would appear that the latter was made in response to the former by a completely different individual who wished to contest the veracity of that edit. 78.28.54.132 (talk) 16:06, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it looks like there was another edit from that IP ([3]) but the date was also different from the one Northpoint777 added so there's no reason to suspect they're the same person whatsoever. Northpoint777's date was 1980, the IP went for 1976. 78.28.54.132 (talk) 16:12, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
