Hello Omotola Dorcas. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Omotola Dorcas. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Omotola Dorcas|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 23:34, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i am not directly or indirectly compensated.

Do you have any form of relationship with Mr. Sunday? How did you come to edit about him? 331dot (talk) 23:40, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i don't know him personally, except that I have heard of him and I know a few people within his circle that have worked with him.
I am a Nigerian and one of the things I have seen is that there are no much public article out there about people who are making a change even if they are not always in the public.
He took my attention late Q2 when I stumbled on several publications from the national digital media platforms celebrating his 3 decades in the industry as a musical icon and sound engineer. I did a bit of research to know more about him and was quite impressed by his works and passion. This spurred my desire to want to create the article to talk about him. The silent personality behind most of the popular artists and musical institutions that are nationally recognised. Omotola Dorcas (talk) 23:47, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

i just received message that my account has been blocked and I am confused as to why.
The last time I edited the article was in July 28th and that is because from the feedback everyone gave me on how to edit it I realized that I might need to study the guidelines before effecting changes.
But reading the message now im confused as to why I am being blocked when I have not done any edit recently and I have responded that I do not have any affiliation with the said person I chose to right about
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

  • I emailed the checkuser team about this account and due to a severe backlog and other limitations they did not get back to me until recently and said that I could go ahead and block. I do not believe that you have no relationship with the subject of your edits. 331dot (talk) 08:48, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You do not believe that I have no relationship with the subject of my edit?
On what ground please and what source did you use to back up this claim?
I thought this was supposed to be a fair and open platform where you could write notable contents and can be guided if found wanting?
Or does the fact that I am a Nigerian have anything to do with whatever assumption you have?
I have appreciated every correction from other users and still welcome other criticism so that I can engage the platform and serve the community but because of your inaccurate assumption, you chose to accept your own superior assumption over my truth?
    I am confused please Omotola Dorcas (talk) 09:45, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care if you are Nigerian or American or Russian or a Vulcan. Your race or nationality are irrelevant to this matter. Due to policy I am unable to say any more about why I don't believe you. Another admin will review your request, and if they believe you, they will unblock you, and may do so without asking me. 331dot (talk) 09:51, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
