Hello, I'm Dan56. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Keep Reachin Up, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dan56 (talk) 20:56, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the reference. For future edits, try using the cite web template (or cite journal, news, etc., depending on source) to cite the source, like here. Dan56 (talk) 22:24, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Repurcussions

[edit]

What does this article have to do with me? If you're asking in general about editing articles and verification, then "personal experience" is never acceptable; only published sources. The only published sources are not online; there are several ways of citing different sources, such as newspapers, magazines, Template:Cite press release, etc. If none exist, then it is likely not notable enough to have its own article (Wikipedia:Notability). This policy prevents indiscriminate information from being included, which is the same standards actual, print encyclopedias follow. After all, there is no infinitely comprehensive, all knowing enyclopedia.

I checked out Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Repercussions (band), and the problem is that the sources as listed in a separate section. Each line of prose needs a footnote, like, using your Allmusic source:

<ref name="Bush">{{cite web|last=Bush|first=John|url=http://www.allmusic.com/artist/repercussions-mn0000390919|title=Repercussions - Music Biography, Credits and Discography|publisher=[[Allmusic]]. [[Rovi Corporation]]|accessdate=2012-08-31}}</ref>

They cant just be listed like it is there and the above content be synthesized together, otherwise anyone has the right to remove uncited prose on grounds that it is not verified by a source. If there are adequate sources for this article, then try reviewing WP:Citing sources for guidelines on adequately citing those sources. Since the band has its own Allmusic entry, then I'd say it atleast should be mentioned at Nicole Willis if not its own article. Also, Discogs is not reliable source, it's a self-published source comprised of user-generated content; I could have signed up to the site and made entries. However, it is a useful guide in looking up credits and catalogue #s for releases, which should then be appropriately cited with what those users generating the content likely used, album notes or release notes. I would also recommend searching "Repurcussions Nicole Willis" or something in that vein through GoogleBooks (you can cite a book with Template:Cite book) or GoogleNews (archive search), which are good for older subjects.
