Your images[edit]

Hi, please don't upload any more images unless you personally took the photos and have the right to release the copyright under a free licence, or unless you are quite quite sure that the image is already in the public domain or has a free licence which allows anyone to reuse, modify, and sell it. In general, images that you find on the web are not free images, so please be careful not to treat them as such. I'm talking in particular about your images of the two Princes, their girlfriends, and the Duchess of York. All those images are likely to be deleted. When you get a little more experienced you may be better able to judge when it might be permissible to use a non-free image. The general rule is that it's only allowed if there's no reasonable possibility of obtaining a free image (for example, by asking the person or their agent to release one, or by having some Wikipedian at some stage going along to some function where a famous person is speaking or singing or signing books, and taking a photo), and when the lack of the image would detract significantly from the ability to understand the article. We don't allow non-free images of living people except under very, very, very rare circumstances. Please see WP:NFCC and Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy. Thanks. License tagging for Image:1449595866 ec2ce1407c m.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1449595866 ec2ce1407c m.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chelsyfun.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chelsyfun.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:47, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kate middleton 300x400.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kate middleton 300x400.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:1109 sharon and randy.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:1109 sharon and randy.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:21, 11 November 2007 (UTC). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2479545142 3477e5ce24.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:2479545142 3477e5ce24.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by an adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on [[Talk:Image:2441932465 8a91816f7a.jpg]].

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 00:18, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Fantasia.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 00:33, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

March 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from David Cook (singer). When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Rachel McAdams[edit]

There has been a lot of debate, including on the talk page, about her birth date. It has been changed hundreds of times because sources conflict. Things finally settled down when the most reliable source so far (her birth announcement in a newspaper) was cited. You removed that (and a second source) and replaced them with a less reliable source. Please don't change the date again without consensus on Talk:Rachel McAdams, even if there is a source that differs from what is in the article. When sources conflict, we decide by consensus, not one editor unilaterally deciding to revert. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 22:24, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
