Vital Articles/Expanded: we need help evaluating dancers

Paul, would you be available to help assess the relative historical importance/significance of several dancers? None of the present VA/E project participants have any particular experience in dance or expertise in dance topics, and I thought it would be a smart move to reach out to someone who did. Please let me know if your would be interested in helping; the time commitment would not be very great, but would involve you reading 20 or so dancer biographies, and giving us your opinion regarding the relative significance of each subject (see here.) Australian Dance Awards

Hello Paul Thanks you for your notes re conflict of interest. I have a bit of an issue with this, as Ausdance ACT is the non-profit producing this year's Australian Dance Awards and the page is out of date for 2012. And dare I say somewhat ungrammatical. The Australian Dance Awards are always produced by an Ausdance branch around Australia as a non-profit exercise, by dancers, for dancers, so from that point of view we don't have a conflict of interest in ensuring the Awards are accurately described. They are our Awards. Adelaide College of Divinity

Hi Paul, what is your reference for saying BCSA and Burleigh College were part of ACD? ACD's own history on its website clearly states the consortium was formed by the three denominations (Catholic, Anglican and Uniting) only. Burleigh was continuously a Baptist theological college run at the site of the Baptist Union (Norwood, then Unley) until it closed in 2006 (see Darren Cronshaw's book Baptists in Australia), and BCSA moved from Victor Harbor to its present site in 1980 (see its website). Initially ACD was dispersed working on the campuses of each college. Anglicans - Belair, Uniting - Wayville, Catholic - Athelstone, Baptist - Norwood, BCSA - Fullarton. Only later did they centralise at the current campus. Whilst I haven't got a copy of the ACD Handbook from the 1980's handy - evidence that Burleigh was a member is found in the Principal of Burleigh being President of ACD 1982 - 1984 (The Reverend Principal Gerald Benjamin Ball, BA Adelaide, MA Flinders, BD Lond, ThM Ruschlikon, Zurich, AUA, PhC). WikiProject Dance

Hello, I’m contacting you because you are a participant in WikiProject Dance. Myself and another editor, User:Mwacha are interested in developing some notability guidelines on WikiProject Dance for dancers, dance critics, performers, and other genre articles as there is no such thing at the moment comparable to what I have heard other editors use for Visual Arts, IE “if they are collected in a major museum, then they are considered notable.” There are of course exceptions to this standard but it is nice to have a rule of thumb to help with AfD, and other moderated discussions. Invitation to Adelaide Wikipedia Users Group meetings

Hi, in case you're not already aware of it, a group of Adelaide Wikipedians has been meeting on a monthly basis since April, with the aim of improving the scope and quality of articles on South Australian topics. We meet at UniSA's City West campus, and our 23 July meeting will have a guest speaker from the National Trust of SA.

This coming Sunday, 6 July, we will be holding our first Edit-a-thon. This will be an opportunity for new editors to come and learn either basic or more advanced editing from very experienced wikipedians, so if you know anyone who would like to get some practice, please let them know - and beginners will be very welcome. Scott, they are the same person, but not the musician. I have been seeking assistance from Uniting Church contacts, at present I am not sure regarding notability based on the information to hand. I would think that President of the Assembly of the UCA should be sufficient to defend WP:ANYBIO notability. It's a sufficiently rare position that it isn't going to flood Wikipedia with articles. Playing a game of First Class Cricket is enough to establish notability, or winning a TV "talent" show. It's always hard to find references online for people who's main contributions to history were between the end of the current Trove archives and the beginning of the modern internet. --Scott Davis ^Talk 12:45, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

William Delafield Cook (older)

I can't find any of his works in the national or state galleries, and the highest price his work has fetched at auction is a comparatively trifling A$5,980. EMU-ACC UCA

Hi Paul, thanks for your editing of the Evangelical members of the Uniting Church which you now merged with the Assembly of Confessing Congregations that I had just formed. I'm a bit new to editing on Wikipedia but would like to work a bit on the Assembly of Confessing Congregations so any hints gladly appreciated.

I was working on a few changes when the merger happened and I couldn't save them. I wanted to run by you to see what you think. I found an article by a religious journalist of the Age regarding the formation of the ACC and was going to give a couple of quotes from a different perspective or is it better to leave it as it is now.

The beginning part on EMU needs some work but I don't seem to be able to find sources to be able to do that properly. I'll keep looking. If it's merged with the newly formed ACC website that is okay but I'm not sure how to keep the essence of what people were wanting to have there with the new title of the ACC. It also needs some history and background to the RA which I think I can find sources for. ACC isn't only evangelical (also reformed and orthodox) so there may be some not happy with the merger.

Of course this is only the early history of the ACC and could develop into a fuller page over what has happened over the past 10 years.

All of EMU, RA and ACC are expressions of the Confessing Movement in the UCA so I expect that keeping that in mind will orient you to what to add and how to phrase it.

I moved the article for EMU to ACC, there is no longer a page for EMU but a redirect. If you have WP:RS, such as from The Age, that would be a useful addition to help show WP:Notability. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest!
