August 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Karl Roßmann, from its old location at User:Pintere/sandbox/Karl Roßmann. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. KGirl (Wanna chat?) 23:58, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New article content[edit]

In the articles you have created, it says, for example, "Konrad Steets' new article content ..." in the lead. I assume this was a mistake, but just wanted to notify you so you can stop including it. Thanks ‡ Єl Cid, Єl Caɱ̩peador ᐐT₳LKᐬ 13:22, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New articles on Knight's Cross winners[edit]

Hi, I've noticed that you created a number of articles on the Knight's Cross winners. I wanted to let you know that, per the outcome of the discussion at Notability:People on notability of Knight's Cross recipients: Redirect proposal for RK winners, the awarding of the Knight's Cross was deemed not to confer presumed notability on the recipients.

Following the above discussion, the notability essay for the Military History project has been modified accordingly: diff. The articles of these recipients have been redirected to alphabetical lists. Please have a look at WP:SOLDIER which suggests some of the factors that may make a military figure to be presumed notable, such as having a general's rank and having commanded a significant body of troops in battle (usually a division for land forces). Please let me know if you have any questions about that discussion.

Separately, many of the new articles include a link to http://en.ww2awards.com/. I am wondering if you are affiliated with this web site in any way. If you could let me know, that would be great. K.e.coffman (talk) 01:00, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should I take this to mean that it is unacceptable for me to continue to create articles for individuals on the sole basis of their receipt of the Knight's Cross? If so I was not aware that I could only create Wikipedia articles if a person was noteworthy enough.
As for the ww2awards page I have no affiliation with the site. It is merely the only site I know in English of where details such as date of birth/death, rank, etc. for the vast majority of Knight's Cross recipients can be corroborated.
Thank you. Yes, if the subjects' only claims to notability are their receipt of the Knight's Cross, then articles on them should not be created. Please see Wikipedia:Notability: "Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, and are not outside the scope of Wikipedia. We consider evidence from reliable independent sources to gauge this attention. The notability guideline does not determine the content of articles, but only whether the topic should have its own article." K.e.coffman (talk) 01:20, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Fair enough. I can get that such articles shouldn't be created, but is there any problem with me doing so? After all, everyone I'm covering is already linked to in the lists of Knight's Cross recipients. I have acquired a lot of biographical information on Knight's Cross recipients and I have created this Wikipedia account for the sole purpose of making this info available to a wide audience. If I can still go ahead with creating pages for Knight's Cross recipients with biographical info I will do so. Are you telling me that the pages I create from now on will be deleted?
In other words, I want to keep creating articles even if it's not recommended. However if my work will be undone either by deletion or something similar, please let me know ASAP so I don't waste my time publishing my findings at a place they are not welcome.
Yes, it's likely that these articles would be deleted or redirected to the lists. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:48, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So be it. That is unfortunate, but if that is the case then there is no point in continuing to contribute to the site.

The article Rupert Kraus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

AFIK the Knights Cross doesn't make the threshold for WP:SOLDIER

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Invitation to Wikia Military[edit]

Greetings Pintere, I see you submitted quite a few articles here that were deleted or redirected due to Wikipedia's rules on notability. I would like to invite you to submit those over to the military wiki on Wikia here instead. A few were already imported by one of the editors there. That wiki doesn't have the same notability criteria as Wikipedia and articles such as this are welcomed and encouraged there. PS, the site is best viewed in the Monobook skin, which is more like the layout Wikipedia uses. If you like the Wikia skin though you are free to use that as well. Cheers! 138.162.0.42 (talk) 14:52, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
