How does responding to someone's question on the DISCUSSION page with a link to a relevant article from the Associated Free Press constitute vandalism? I'll admit that I'm not the most well-versed person on the use of Wikipedia, but a "last warning" for something so innocuous seems excessive. London Meet.

May I suggest the Pembury Tavern in Hackney? Not Central London, but a great venue with free Wifi, Python driven till etc and great beer and food. Otherwise, Penderel's Oak near Holborn Tube station (no wifi). Gordo (talk) 10:30, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Gordo, thanks for the suggestion! I think it sounds like a decent place. I started a proper page for the meetup over at Wikipedia:Meetup/London7 and added your suggestion. Poeloq (talk) 16:24, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invitation. I used to do this sort of thing when I was single, however now I have a family I don't find I have the time. I hope it goes well and thanks for the invitation. DavidFarmbrough (talk) 16:31, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for organising this. It was fun - sorry my gaming days are over. Kbthompson (talk) 12:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks for the invitation. I didn't respond as I wasn't sure how the weekend would turn out, and as it happened I was busy with other things. I'm watching the London meetup page anyway, and hope to make it on a future occasion. - Fayenatic (talk) 16:09, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey dude thx for inviting but I stay in india so can't be able to come. Thanks anyways. Enjoy !! Mital Vora (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 10:06, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite, but I was in Wales over the weekend. However, please invite me to the next event. GhostInTheMachine (talk) 12:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ich war leider gar nicht im Lande, vielen Dank trotzdem für die nette Einladung. Jared Preston (talk) 15:23, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Delete Tag

A tag has been placed on Chiang K'ang Hu, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dustihowe  Talk  19:41, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed on the page that there was little or no information on the individual, therefore, I placed the tag. If this artice is of importance to you and you wish to have it included in Wiki, create another artice with more informaion on the individual. Dustihowe  Talk  20:08, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Dillinger

Hi, an anon removed some long-standing (since 18 October 2006) text from John Dillinger with this edit without leaving an edit summary. I undid his edit (I should have left an edit summary 'rv unexplained change' but I was lazy, so I am arguably as guilty as he). I think you very understandably mistook my replacement of the text for a vandalism and reverted it. I wonder if you would mind restoring the '(which Hoover later kept in a jar)' phrase, which is actually part and parcel of the rumor the article mentions. Thanks, CliffC (talk) 06:32, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't believe it was vandalism, but a unsourced rumour. If you can source it with a citation, fine. Poeloq (talk) 12:51, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have done so. Next time something seems dubious to you, I suggest you simply attach a {{cn}} tag. --CliffC (talk) 01:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why Latin?

I used an external link in mine initially and apparently it couldn't handle that and defaulted to the default nature of the template, which included latin. A bug in the Template.--CastAStone//(talk) 04:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that makes sense. I thought it was a bad joke ;-) Poeloq (talk) 05:25, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Noël Martin

An editor has nominated Noël Martin, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Noël Martin and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SmackBot uses WP:AWB for almost all its edits. Rich Farmbrough, 07:05 14 January 2008 (GMT).

Human rights section in PRC page

I think a country page should not have a separate section for "Human rights" in that country. The human rights situation should be dealt in more specialized page, the article on human rights of that country. I have removed the Human rights section from People's Republic of China page. I have commented on this in the article talk page. Thanks. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 19:06, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gossip Girl

I didn't mean to revert edits to the vandalized text. It was an edit mis-timing.Metal Head (talk) 15:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I noticed something went wrong there. Sorry about that, happy editing. Poeloq (talk) 15:58, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Naw -

I'll revert his message again :-D - He's a blatant vandal either way. Leave your AIV report of him up too. Thanks for keeping Wiki clean! ScarianCall me Pat 23:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't report to AIV unless he vandalizes blatantly after a final warning - which he didn't. Thanks :) Poeloq (talk) 00:00, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well thanks goes out to whomever reported him! He's indef blocked now. Have a nice day! ScarianCall me Pat 00:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK Poeloq (talk) 00:16, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning

How does responding to someone's question on the DISCUSSION page with a link to a relevant article from the Associated Free Press constitute vandalism? I'll admit that I'm not the most well-versed person on the use of Wikipedia, but a "last warning" for something so innocuous seems excessive. Udibi (talk) 02:15, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

self-delusion in the face of unpleasant facts is folly.
