A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Publicize, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. July 2020[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. MER-C 18:56, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hi Wikipedia admins. I am sorry that you had to block my page and profile. I am indeed working as an intern for the company Publicize but my intent is absolutely not to promote the company or get any forms of sales from that. I just wanted to create a wikipedia page to give some basic descriptive information and have this page available on Wikipedia as any of my company's competitors have, that's it. As you can see with the page content, there is nothing salesy or promotional, just purely informational in case someone wants to know more about our company rather than having to read the content we have on our own website. I just created the few lines of text but as per the wikipedia rules, it is also meant to be updated by anyone who wants it. I understand that my profile name may be suspicious, but again I just wanted to give full transparency on my goal for creating this page. I hope you understand and I remain at your disposal for any change you may ask me to make.

Decline reason:

Now that you know your username and your edits were inappropriate, you'll need to follow the instructions above if you wish to be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:32, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Request reason:

Changing the name to comply with the username policy.

- Disclose any compensation you may receive: I am just an intern working for the company Publicize. I don't receive any additional compensation than my monthly salary. Again, this is more just having a company wikipedia page as all our competitors have than a real marketing strategy. - Convince us that you understand the reason for your block: I understand that my profile name can be shocking when creating a wikipedia page of the same name. I do not intent to look commercial (it was more about giving full transparency on what I was doing) or promotional and I never will. I will keep the page content purely informative and will make sure to spread this message on my company. - Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked: Just a standard purely informative and non-promotionnal wikipedia page, nothing more. Than that.

Thanks for your reading, and let me know if I can help you with anything.

Decline reason:

In your appeal, you give the definition of promotion on Wikipedia. You do not have to be actively selling something or soliciting customers. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. You can do that on your company website or social media. This is an encyclopedia, that summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. Wikipedia is not interested in what a company wants to say about itself. Not every company merits a Wikipedia article, even within the same field, it depends on the sources. Since you indicate that you only want to edit about your company, which will continue to violate the conflict of interest and paid editing policies, there are no grounds to lift the block, and I am declining your request. To be unblocked, you will need to agree to not make COI related edits and tell what topics you will edit about instead. 331dot (talk) 20:07, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
