Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Decentralized Pictures Foundation, Inc.
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Decentralized Pictures Foundation, Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. BangJan1999 21:02, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Purpleicecream27!. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Decentralized Pictures Foundation, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Purpleicecream27!. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Purpleicecream27!|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:25, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- I am not compensated for my edits, I had went on the forum to discuss what needed to be changed for the non profit organization Decentralized Pictures and made those changes based on what was recommended in the talk forum from wikipedia moderators. Purpleicecream27! (talk) 19:58, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- Then please clarify the nature of the conflict of interest you've disclosed on your user-page. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:54, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi,
- I don't understand where this disclosure was said or came from, but I was told on the forums to simply add a new reliable neutral source which I did through the addition of the Washington Post and revisit the wording. Purpleicecream27! (talk) 03:32, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- You added it with this edit, your first to this project. What is the nature of your connection to the organisation? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:31, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry I am not sure why that was added, can we remove that? I am not affiliated with the org, I heard great things about it and have friends who have submitted their films to it so I wanted to share that with Wikipedia so other filmmakers could know about it too. Purpleicecream27! (talk) 16:06, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I'm sorry too, but if an edit was made using your account and you don't know why, the only reasonable explanation is that someone else has access to your account. That is not permitted here, so I have blocked it – please see below. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:39, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- You misunderstood me, I did do the edit but I don't now why it was flagged as conflict of interest. That is what I meant. All I did was edit (add in an article that is neutral + remove instances of NFTs) based on what the wikipedia mods suggested in the chat section and forum to ensure this would be approved in the future. I was simply following through with what your colleagues suggested, why am I blocked for that? Purpleicecream27! (talk) 16:50, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:
Misunderstanding while communicating with one of your mods. This process has been very confusing for me as someone who is simply trying to share information about an organization and page who could help filmmakers. Purpleicecream27! (talk) 17:29, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
This request does not address the concerns behind the block. Please address the questions raised by Justlettersandnumbers below. signed, Rosguill talk 02:35, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
I must say that I'm not getting a compromised vibe from reading the above conversation, perhaps Justlettersandnumbers could clarify their concerns- but I am concerned with the COI issue here. You say that your edit was flagged as a COI, but your first edit was to declare a COI. So which is it? I don't know what you mean by a "chat section"(maybe IRC?) but which "mods" did you communicate with? Note that Wikipedia is not for merely sharing information, and is not interested in what a topic wants to say about itself. A Wikipedia article must summarize what independent reliable sources say about (in this case) an organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. 331dot (talk) 18:56, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Justlettersandnumbers trying the ping again. 331dot (talk) 18:59, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping, 331dot – for family reasons I'm mostly away from the project now and for the next several days at least. My concern is this: I asked Purpleicecream27! to clarify the nature of his/her COI, disclosed here with the first edit from this account (which of course I linked to when asking). The reply was that the user had no knowledge of why that edit was made; I could think of no explanation of that other than shared use. If I've misread the situation I'd be grateful if you'd amend or lift the block as you think most appropriate, without further reference to me.
- Purpleicecream27!, please follow this link –––> link <–––. Did you or did you not make that edit? If so, why? What is the nature of your conflict of interest with that topic? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:34, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
