Grammar

[edit]

From some of the erroneous grammatical "corrections" that you have done -- I assume in WP:GOODFAITH -- I'd infer that you somehow confuse the third person "s" with a mark of plural. Please be more careful with that. — Gamall Wednesday Ida (t · c) 09:03, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Much later in the day, I think I finally see what was bugging you. It's not the "s", but the "rather than" construction, and it's a fully legitimate concern. Unwarranted in that case, but legitimate. My apologies. The first edit you proposed was very odd-sounding, so I didn't give much thought to your second one. Anyway, the answer to your concern is that, in the sentence, "rather than" is a preposition, and the second clause can be a bare infinitive (in this case) or a gerund. Although no correction was needed, I have reinstated your second version, which will avoid similar doubts from other readers. — Gamall Wednesday Ida (t · c) 15:58, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
