DYK for Death and funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

[edit]

On 3 May 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Death and funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that after the BBC suspended its regular programming following the death of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, the broadcaster received criticism for the continuous coverage of the Duke? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Death and funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Death and funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

You do realise we have ClueBot III archiving the page every 30 days, right? Manually archiving isn't necessary, and if you want more frequent archives, change the settings of ClueBot in the source of the talk page. --Aknell4 (talkcontribs) 12:35, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider to take the image for the organ builder, after we discussed no end, mention an emperor in the hook who has nothing to do with the organ, and another user cropped it for the purpose. It's unusual, and recognizable. (I plea only in 10% of cases when an image wasn't taken.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:42, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gerda Arendt: So....you mean that you expect all of your DYK hooks (all 1613 of them) to be accompanied by an image? And this is the first time where an image from your hook isn't taken? --Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 12:32, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Almost the opposite. I normally don't expect the image to be taken, but in selected cases (an estimated 10%), I do hope so very much. As in this one, where an image would show at a glance the size of the instrument, and that we talk 20th century. Without image, we should probably provide at least one year to the hook, one organ or the other. Or keep the hook short by using the image. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:40, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gerda Arendt: Well...sorry...it is too late now...--Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 07:12, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Can we expand the hook, as the very first hook had, because moving the workshop to West Berlin at least gives it some idea of the time? Thank you for being sorry about the implication that I do DYK for my sake. I still believe that the image - unusual, a bit enigmatic, in strong colours - would be a nice diversity for the Main page (with so many building, and black&white portraits). I thought about offering the position in favour of Philipp Harnoncourt, because it's his day of death, but arrived at that I don't like celebrating days of death, and he was interested in the Trinity, so we better wait for Trinity Sunday (30 June), hoping for an image then which could not be had, - not for me, but for the memory of him. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:23, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gerda Arendt: Fine....your wish is granted. Anything else you want me to do? --Regards, Jeromi Mikhael 14:59, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for granting, and I try not to influence prep-builders too much. Thank you for doing that work. - Btw, I think I understood you talk archiving now, and it makes sense. Took a while, sorry ;) - Actually, I do a similar thing assigning DYK to the archive they will eventually be in, rather than the "Recent additions" pot, and then having to move once the month is over. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:29, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gee, thanks, but...
