Speedy deletion nomination of Scott Paddon
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Scott Paddon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GILO ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY 22:03, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hello! Scott Paddon is not the appropriate place to post information about yourself, because it is in the part of Wikipedia where encyclopedic articles are written. A "userpage" at User:Scottip3, however, is available for personal information about yourself. When adding personal information please remember that Wikipedia is not a social network such as MySpace or Facebook. Your userpage is for anything that is compatible with the Wikipedia project. It is a mistake to think of it as a homepage: Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, or social networking site. Please see Wikipedia:Introduction and Wikipedia:User page for more information. Hi. I have reverted your contribution. Sorry, but "anyone can edit" doesn't mean "anyone can put in whatever they like". Any facts added to Wikipedia need to be verifiable from a reliable source. The links at the top of this page will tell you more about contributing. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:35, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I am glad you have registered, and hope you can find a place here where you can both learn and contribute to the project. I think it is a terrific opportunity on both counts, but we have to defend it against all kinds of unhelpful edits, and even attacks. But, don't be put off or discouraged! When you see something that is gibberish, dive in and fix it up if you can. If not, point it out on the article talk page, and ask for help there. If you see something that is you are certain is really wrong, feel free to correct it, but if your change is at all controversial you will need to give a reliable source to back up your information, or another editor will usually change it back pretty quick. This can be frustrating, but I hope you can see that we have to follow that discipline to avoid having a complete mess. Finally, do look at the five pillars to get an overview of how the place works, beyond the bare mechanics of editing. And, good luck! Wwheaton (talk) 00:17, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
