ASSAM SKIES
Assam skies which was released on 25th September 2019, is the very first episode of the fifth season of the insignificant, yet mellifluous Chai Tunes Project(2015). This episode which stretches for 5 minutes and 51 seconds is produced by Music Malt Studios. Directed by the talented Tarunabh Dutta who is known for his first Assamese Sci-Fi movie 'Avataran', this episode is based on the life of a British tea planter who was lyricist Karen Weed's great grandfather working at a tea-estate in Assam in the colonial era. He had a relationship with Rampiyari, a young woman from the tea garden in Assam. They had two daughters who were put into a home for orphans in Assam the same year their father married his English wife. They felt abandoned and were told that their mother, Rampiry had died of a broken heart when they were taken away. This episode is adopted from the poem written by Karen Weed, a poet based in London ,and the music is produced by Jim Ankan Deka (India) and Char Seawell (US). This very episode was filmed in the mythological and hilly areas of Guwahati, India. Little does people know that Assam Skies is an amalgamation of 15 artists from India, the United Kingdom and the United States of America (USA) who shaped this project with an aim to tell a true story set during the colonial era. Though the shooting of the video started in August with the lead actors Lain Heringman from Spain, Alice Banting Bhattacharya from UK and Gargi Buragohain from Assam , it was released worldwide in September 2019. In the words of the director, Tarunabh Dutta, a lot of research went into this musical documentary and they assured that there were no modern elements manifested .[1]
DER GOTTKÖNIG (TV EPISODE)-
[edit]Der Gottkönig which was released on 31st December 1999, is the sixth episode of the third season of Martin Thoma’s Go East - Go West (1997). Tibet was a free country for over 1300 years. As late as 1800, Greater Tibet stretched from Ladakh in the west to the city of Dartsedo in the east - until China annexed the area and reduced it by more than half. Soon after, the Tibetan leader, the 14th Dalai Lama Lhasa, had to flee his seat of government by night and fog. Today he lives in the Indian Dharamsala and looks after his "abandoned people" from exile. Every year the charismatic Lama holds a grand audience, pilgrimages with thousands of believing Buddhists to the "Holy Mountain" at the foot of the Himalayas and receives show greats like Richard Gere or Tina Turner - all in the service of his "oppressed country": the God King as PR manager. What are his wishes, what are his goals? On the fringes of a meeting with Richard Gere, who travelled from Los Angeles to Dharamsala for a great Buddhist pilgrimage, the Dalai Lama explains his vision of a possible peace in the monastic and temple state on the roof of the world. This episode features Dalai Lama and Richard Gere themselves and was released in German language only. This episode was filmed in Dharamsala, the district headquarters of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India.[2]
