My Question2

How do I know if a logo for a show is in the public domain or not?
SparkyHelper (talk) 23:32, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi again SparkyHelper. You must assume all images you see are fully non-free copyrighted, unless you have affirmative evidence to the contrary. That means unless you see a release posted in relation to an image (which can be into the public domain, or under a free copyright license that is compatible with the free licenses borne by most of Wikipedia's content), e.g., "this image is released into the public domain", or there is some verifiable situational status to believe something is in the public domain (e.g., a U.S. image published before 1923), you must assume it is non-free. Further, there is no need for anyone to post a copyright symbol. Anything one creates that is sufficiently creative for copyright protection in the first place, is automatically copyright to its creator at the moment of creation. All this is somewhat besides the point for this particular situation, because logos are almost invariably not released into the public domain, nor granted a free copyright license. However, some logos are not sufficiently creative to qualify for copyright protection in the first place (see threshold of originality. If you want to question a logo on that basis, I suggest posting to WP:MCQ. Meanwhile, we do allow use of some non-free images here under a claim of fair use. In general, most images do not qualify, but many logos do, for use at low resolution in an article about the show that the logo is for, and nowhere else. Upon such an upload you must place a filled-out fair use rationale and a copyright license. The best way, really, is to go to a well developed article with a logo being used under a claim of fair use, click on the image, and see what is involved. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:03, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

- WP:Transclusion. As an aside, please don't change talk page messages that someone else has already replied to; otherwise the replies may be taken out of context. Huon (talk) 22:42, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

how do I align my pictures on the edge again SparkyHelper (talk) 23:04, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

My Question 9
[edit]This request for help from administrators has been answered. If you need more help or have additional questions, please reapply the {{admin help}} template, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their own user talk page. |
Is there a better way to archive my questions by turning them into headers SparkyHelper (talk) 00:21, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- My advice is to choose headings that will tell what the section is about. If you want to archive content on your talk page, see Help:Archiving a talk page. On an unrelated note, this is not an issue that requires an admin. Huon (talk) 16:08, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from User:SparkyHelper, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:04, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- One thing that contributes to your user page's elegibility for speedy deletion is that few, if any, of your contributions have been to article space. A certain amount of burnishing your user page is allowed, but if you need to show signs of becoming a contribution editor. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:07, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Vituzzu confirmed the sockpuppetry via CheckUser (global data, since ScooterBeanieBoo is stale on the English Wikipedia but performed cross-wiki vandalism as recently as October 1). I would have been very, very close to a block for competence reasons anyway after seeing this, where SparkyHelper gives absolutely unhelpful advice and closes the {{helpme}} so that others can't see it any more.
