Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, StaticVision! I have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! --Gp75motorsports TALK 15:20, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Emu8086 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. DFS454 (talk) 18:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Static, can you include some information about why this topic is "notable" enough to include it in the encyclopaedia? Typically, this is done by adding references in reliable third-party sources that cover the topic in detail.

One book [1] discusses it and that's all I could find«»—StaticVision (talk) 03:19, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you have the book you can try and add some information from it to the article. From the excerpt alone however I don't think it's enough to get it past WP:NOTABILITY, the book seems to be mostly using the emulator as a platform to teach assembly. There seem to be sources out there in other languages however, see google news. I haven't looked at them, but if you think the topic merits a standalone article they might be useful. --Amalthea 11:54, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Maybe not, just delete it. I don't really care about the one line article :/ Thanks for your help though —StaticVision (talk) 13:49, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I have. I had a brief look at the three sources from google news and they were only forum and list entries after all, so I'm convinced it isn't quite notable enough at this point. There's a lot of software out there, and only a small part has encyclopaedic notability, so don't let that discourage you please. There's still a lot of articles that we're missing.
Oh, two other things: Twinkle should be working for you by now I think? You'll notice once you have a load of extra tabs at the top of your page (assuming you are using a compatible browser, like FireFox). Also, when you place warning templates on user pages, you should remember to substitute them. This is true for the majority of templates placed on user talk pages. It's not bad if you forget to, there'll be a bot coming around at some time to substitute them for you.
Cheers, and thanks for patrolling the recent changes, Amalthea 14:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok thx and yes Twinkle works now —StaticVision (talk) 15:14, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:RedMere logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RedMere logo.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 19:52, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Patrolling Pages
[edit]Hi,thank you for patrolling pages but please mark them as patrolled after you have done so.Cheers!Jamiebijania (talk) 12:26, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I patrol them with {{db|1=reason}}. What am I missing? —SV 12:30, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- Oh got it; you probably mean click [mark this page patrolled]. Will do! —SV 12:33, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I think this article would make an interesting WP:DYK, if you felt like sprucing it up. :) – Toon(talk) 16:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've expanded it some more and nominated it here. – Toon(talk) 18:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
notenglish
[edit]Just a note with respect to Sife rub -- I can certainly understand your motivation to tag this article, but unfortunately being written in a language other than English is not a criterion for speedy deletion. Instead, we use the "notenglish" tag and make a note on the appropriate page (as explained within the body of the tag) so that someone who speaks that language can do the right thing with the article. If you have any questions, I'm at your service. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:47, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Multi-paradigm programming language
[edit]The entire article is as close to CRAP as I have yet come across on Wikipedia - it needs a complete re-write and 'merge' with 'programming paradigm' (which is itself not so good) - God help us if this is the best that so called professionals can come up withken (talk) 05:44, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Speedy tagging
[edit]I just declined this tagging of yours. Please remember that while Wikipedia is not for things made up one day, no speedy deletion criterion covers that explicitly. In this case, remember that A7 only covers real people, organsiations or web content, nothing else. Instead, you should use WP:PROD in those cases, as I did for you on that article. Regards SoWhy 10:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ok thanks I will prod such articles then. —SV 11:35, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
