I would like some clarification on spamming. I'm interested in linking in relevant articles for further reading, but don't want to be a "spammer"

Hello, I appreciate your wanting to do things right. You may want to look at WP:External links. Basically, links for further reading are OK in moderation, but better still is to try to get relevant information in the article. External links are really to link things that cannot be put into the article. People can maybe give you a better answer if you have a specific answer in mind. (edit conflict) That depends on a couple of factors:

How relevant is the link? Is the target page a reliable source that provides helpful information for readers interested in the articles' topics? Or is it only tangentially related?
Do you have a connection to the page you link to? If you were to add your own writings to multiple articles, that might be considered a problem.
How many pages do you add links to? Adding links to the same website to dozens of pages may be considered spam even if each individual link would be considered unproblematic.

In short, the question is whether people might get the impression that you're primarily trying to aid or popularize the website you link to, not to improve the encyclopedia.
