Hello, SwingSister. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. Ethnicity[edit]

Please see MOS:OPENPARA. By consensus, "The opening paragraph should usually provide context. In most modern-day cases this will mean the country of which the person is a citizen, national or permanent resident, or if the person is notable mainly for past events, the country where the person was a citizen, national or permanent resident when the person became notable. Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability." (My emphasis.) Thanks. African-American[edit]

Hi, just wanted to reiterate that the first sentence of the lede of biographical articles should identify the person by nationality, rather than race. This is particularly important in relation to articles about black Americans, as the term African-American, in the first sentence of the lede, is ambiguous, and may indicate that the person was born in Africa and moved to America, or is the descendant of African slaves but was born in the United States. Information about ethnicity is certainly permissible to include, but it is often better addressed in "early life" sections when discussing place of birth and parentage. Help me![edit]

Please help me with... Tiny Tim (musician) somebody has made major changes since 2010 in taking out a large chunk of information. Roger Ebert had used the Wikipedia information in www.rogerebert.com/the-last-days-of-tiny-tim. The current Wikipedia has been pretty much re-written, leaving out his being a street performer near Harvard University and being a fan of Rudy Valle's.
