Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Timothyjmartin, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Timothyjmartin/sandbox/Le Naturaliste, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Timothyjmartin/sandbox/Le Naturaliste requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.timothymartin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/LE-NATURALISTE-Artaujourdhui-cmp.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Request reason:

Dear Wikipedia Team,

I appreciate your attention to my previous appeal, and I understand the gravity of the issue that led to my account being blocked. The reason cited for the block was "Clearly not here to build an encyclopedia: just self-promo."
Upon careful reflection and a deeper understanding of Wikipedia's policies, I now recognize the error in my approach. I understand that Wikipedia is a platform dedicated to building a comprehensive and unbiased encyclopedia, and that contributions should be made with the primary goal of providing valuable information to the public, rather than for self-promotion or personal gain.
I am writing to emphasize my commitment to adhering to Wikipedia's principles and guidelines moving forward. I fully acknowledge that my previous actions were not in line with these principles, and I sincerely apologize for any disruption caused. I have learned the importance of putting the needs of the Wikipedia community and the integrity of the encyclopedia above personal interests.
In the future, I pledge to contribute in a manner that upholds Wikipedia's values and aligns with the encyclopedia's mission. My focus will be on providing accurate, well-researched, and impartial content that benefits the wider readership. I will refrain from any actions that could be perceived as self-promotion and ensure that my edits contribute to the advancement of knowledge and understanding on Wikipedia.
I kindly request your reconsideration of my appeal. I am eager to make amends and contribute positively to Wikipedia's collective efforts in building a reliable and comprehensive encyclopedia.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response. Timothyjmartin (talk) 04:23, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am summarily declining this request because it was clearly written by an AI. This wouldn't work to get the AI unblocked anyway- but since it is you who is blocked, not an AI, we want to hear from you. Please write a request in your own words. 331dot (talk) 08:41, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Dear Wikipedia Team, I am writing to follow up on my recent unblock appeal made on Sep 18th. I have added the reason and again apologizing on the same. I kindly request you to please have a look on my previous appeal and if possible, share an update on the same. Your guidance and feedback are highly valued. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank You.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. You already have an open unblock request. Adding a second simultaneous unblock request in the middle (?!?) of the page is abusive. Yamla (talk) 09:55, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia Team, Thank You for your response. I would like to appeal blocking request again regarding my recent account block on 14th Sep 2023. I will completely change my article as per Wikipedia's guidelines. Dear Wikipedia Team, I am writing to respectfully address the reason for the decline of my recent unblock request. The reason provided was "You will not be unblocked to write an article about yourself." I now understand and improved my existing article and making sure it will provide useful and true information. Nothing will be self-promotion or against the Wikipedia policies. Kindly request you to please unblock my account. I want to follow all the Wikipedia rules and be a positive part of this community. If you can guide me on how to do this better, I would really appreciate it. I'm ready to learn and do the right thing. Thank you for your time and help. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Please see WP:AUTO. You will not be unblocked to write about yourself, even if you ensure that there is no promotional language in it, which is very difficult to do when you are writing about yourself. We are not here to guide you on how to write an article about you: we are here to build an encyclopedia. Please do not open another unblock request until you have determined what other topics you would like to write about. Z1720 (talk) 20:51, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly help me for my Block account.

[edit]

Respected Team, Tt's been 1 month, I have created an account for Timothy Martin and wrote about him. But this account has been blocked. The reason for my blocking was "Clearly not here to build an encyclopedia: just self-promo." I have Faced challenges with multiple unblock appeal rejections. Shouldn't I have created an account in his name? Now, in this situation, how can I move forward? Please help me. Your guidance and insights are highly appreciated. Thank You! Please place new posts at the bottom for proper chronological flow. I would advise you against using the Reply function to make any edits other than standard comments; comments with formatting(like section headers and unblock requests) are not accomodated well by the Reply function and are best done by opening the edit window directly by clicking "edit" at the top of the screen.
To respond to you, No, you shouldn't have created an account in someone else's name. You will now need to tell us a new username to rename this account to in your next unblock request. You will also need to tell us your connection with Timothy Martin and tell us what you will edit about other than him as we still won't unblock you to edit about him. 331dot (talk) 08:09, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Your Dear Wikipedia Team,

I am writing to appeal the block placed on my account and to address the concerns raised regarding the use of an account in a different name.
Firstly, I acknowledge and understand the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability on Wikipedia. I apologize for any confusion caused by creating an account under a different name. I thought my username will show at the top of the page so I used his name. .I intend to remedy this by requesting a username change to reflect my true identity, which is Payal Sharma. I assure you that this account accurately represents my identity and is not associated with anyone else.
Regarding my connection with Timothy Martin, I have no personal association with Timothy Martin. I would like to clarify that I am a follower of art and culture, and my interest in Timothy Martin's work stems from an appreciation for the arts. While I have an interest in learning about and discussing artists like Timothy Martin, my contributions on Wikipedia extend beyond any particular individual.
Moving forward, I am dedicated to adhering to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and contributing positively to the community. I kindly request that my account be unblocked, and I appreciate your understanding and consideration of this appeal. Thank you so much for your guidance.

Decline reason:

Well, I wonder how often over the years I have seen the following happen. A new editor arrives, and writes unambiguously promotional stuff about a person whose name is the same as, or closely similar to, that editor's username. Various posts are made, in all of which by other editors, clearly on the basis of an understanding that the editor is in fact the person whose name they are using, and whom they are promoting. The editor does nothing whatever to dispel that impression; on the contrary, various things they say positively support their impression. (Perhaps, for example, they refer to the name of the person they have written about as "my name"; and perhaps they repeatedly respond to message using expressions including "self", accepting, and at times even repeating the use of "self", which comes as close as anything to saying that it is themself that they are referring to.) Then, after a while, someone tells them about the conflict of interest guideline, or the guideline on autobiographies, and all of a sudden they start denying that they are the person in question. All of a sudden they start explaining how it has all been a terrible misunderstanding, because they unfortunately chose another person's name as their username, but they are not in fact that person. No explanation of why they previously allowed, and even encouraged, editors to maintain the belief as to their identity, rather than correcting the error. It is scarcely necessary to tell you how that looks, especially when it is so much yet one more copy of a behaviour pattern which one has seen over and over and over again and again over the course of many years. Dear Administrators,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to respectfully appeal the block placed on my account and to address the concerns raised regarding my choice of username. Initially, I selected the username "Timothy Martin" under the misunderstanding that it would be prominently displayed at the top of the page. I have come to understand that this was an error in judgment, and I deeply regret any confusion it may have caused. It was never my intention to deceive or engage in self-promotion. I now realize that my actions may have inadvertently led others to believe that I am associated with Timothy Martin. I sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by this misunderstanding. I want to clarify that my intention was never to promote any individual or engage in any form of self-promotion. I kindly request a username change to accurately reflect my true identity as Payal Sharma. The proposed new username is "Payal1905." I have taken the time to familiarize myself with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. I assure you that I fully understand and respect these guidelines. I am committed to contributing constructively and respectfully to the Wikipedia community, adhering to all policies and guidelines. I want to clarify that my interest in Timothy Martin's work stems from a genuine appreciation for art and culture. I kindly request that my account be unblocked, taking into account the changes I intend to make, including the requested username change. I get the sense that you might be writing with an AI again. Your choice of new username would be okay, but other than that you aren't telling us much new here. I don't believe that you edited about Mr. Martin at random or because you are a mere "enthusaist" of art. Your draft extensively linked to his website showing his artwork and the links had "wp-content" in them so clearly you have access to his website. Since despite repeated chances you have chosen not to be honest with us, I am declining your request and removing talk page access. Should you choose to be honest with us, you may use WP:UTRS for further appeals. 331dot (talk) 09:14, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
