Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Surname has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.
- ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made was constructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this message from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
- For help, take a look at the introduction.
- The following is the log entry regarding this message: Surname was changed by Total Eclipse 2017 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.979457 on 2020-04-10T15:43:16+00:00
Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 15:43, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to edit! I didn’t know I could!! What is going on here? I’m so confused....... I’ve read Wikipedia for years, and this has never happened before.. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:47, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi there! ClueBot NG is an automated bot and can't reply to you, but I saw your reply and understand your confusion. Wikipedia is written by many volunteers, and anyone can edit it. This is why you are able to edit pages. If you'd like to learn more, visit Wikipedia:Introduction; perhaps editing is something you'd be interested in! --GalaxyDog (talk) 15:49, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
You mean it isn’t a glitch? That’s crazy! I never knew that! I thought Wikipedia was written by some faceless entity! Also, what is the purpose of this page I’m posting on... User talk Total Eclipse 2017? I thought the account just gave me access to more articles... what is it actually for? Sorry to spam ya, I’m just confused. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:01, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Accounts do not give you access to more articles; they let you more effectively contribute to the encyclopedia. This page is called your user talk page, and it is meant to let other users message you. For more information on user talk pages and other talk pages (every article has a talk page, as well), you can visit Help:Talk pages. And no - I don't mind your questions! I'm actually happy that I have the opportunity to answer them. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:07, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
So, I looked at the “Help:Talk pages” page, and it was long and confusing. Could you give me a simpler explanation? Also, don’t expect much of me as an editor... I’m literally a schoolkid that’s stuck at home due to the cov-19 virus... Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:24, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- To put it simply, user talk pages are where users can contact other users. Article talk pages (e.g. Talk:Dog is the talk page for the article Dog) are places for users to talk about how to best improve a certain article. Also, that's fine - no readers of Wikipedia are obligated to edit it. Many people simply edit for fun. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:31, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Cool! Just one more question- is there a way to tell what I should edit? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:35, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Any articles that need improvement are possible articles you could edit. If an article has a spelling or grammar error, you can fix it. If an article does not adequately cover its topic, you could add some more information. When it comes to editing articles, Wikipedia tells its editors to be bold. If you make a mistake, someone will fix it. If you'd like to edit Wikipedia articles about a certain subject, there may be a WikiProject you could join about it. An example of a big one is WikiProject Women in Red, which aims to write more articles on women (unfortunately, there are currently very few compared to men). I'm part of a WikiProject, the Guild of Copy Editors, which aims to encourage editors to copy edit articles. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page (if you reply here, unless it's not too long from now, I likely won't see it unless you use the {{Reply to}} template). Alternatively, there are many experienced editors at the Teahouse who could help you out. Another option is to place the {{Help me}} template on your talk page. I'm glad I was able to help you out! :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:50, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
I really appreciate it! Also, what is the teahouse? Error in Template:Reply to: Username not given. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:52, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
And how do you make those blue words into those clickable links? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:53, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- When using the {{reply to}} template, you need to specify who you're replying to - for example, if you're replying to me, you would type {{reply to|GalaxyDog}}. That's why it currently says that there was an error. You need to specify the person because adding it will cause them to get a notification (that's the purpose of the template). The Teahouse is a place where new editors can ask questions about editing Wikipedia. To make links, you do this: [[Insert page you'd like to link to here]] For example, if I wanted to link to the article on cats, I'd type [[Cat]] which would make Cat. If you're interested in learning more about how to edit Wikipedia, I'd also recommend you try out the Wikipedia Adventure - it's a great way to get started editing. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, and everyone here is happy when someone new wants to contribute constructively. As you can probably tell, we have a lot of problems with vandalism, which is why we have ClueBot NG to reduce the workload on users manually reverting vandalism. Obviously you were not making your edit in bad faith, but the bot doesn't know that because it's a computer. --GalaxyDog (talk) 17:03, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I didnt know that. Is this correct? @GalaxyDog:
Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:00, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yes. I got a notification when you did that. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:03, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Editing Wikipedia just seems so complicated... how does anyone ever figure it out?? @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:07, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe, but you just need to remember that you can be bold when editing, and if you make a mistake someone will undo it and assume that your edit was made in good faith. --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:13, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
I think I’m gonna go check out that Wikipedia adventure thing now... Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:15, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- That's a good idea - it's really a great thing to start out with. Have fun! --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:16, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Never mind. I just read that it doesn’t work on iPad. Dang it! Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:18, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
So, to bring up a point you mentioned earlier... what exactly is a wikiproject? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:22, 10 April 2020 (UTC) @GalaxyDog:
- In the words of the WikiProject page, "a WikiProject is a group of contributors who want to work together as a team to improve Wikipedia. These groups often focus on a specific topic area (for example, WikiProject Mathematics or WikiProject India), a specific part of the encyclopedia (for example, WP:WikiProject Disambiguation), or a specific kind of task (for example, checking newly created pages)." I feel that page probably says it better than I could. ^^ --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:27, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Sounds cool. How do you know which one to join? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:29, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
@GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:32, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- You can search for one here, or there are directories for them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory and Wikipedia:WikiProject Directory. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:34, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
You seem to know a lot. How long have you been here? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:36, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
@GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:39, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- I've been here since 2018, except I only started getting really into editing this month. However, I'm not new to using wikis based on MediaWiki (the software Wikipedia runs on), so I've been able to get into it pretty quickly. --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:44, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
I have no idea what I’m doing, to be honest. I just drift around and fix what looks like a problem... @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:54, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Acquainted By An Eclipse
@Total Eclipse 2017, How's it going? I saw it, too, in The Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. It was epic! Liberty5651 (talk) 17:28, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
That is why I chose this username... maybe I should put that fact on my user page. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 17:29, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
It's fairly obvious, but, yeah that's good background data to include on the user page. I haven't got much on mine; never know what to put. Liberty5651 (talk) 17:33, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Ah. I don’t have much on mine either... @Liberty5651: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 17:34, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
You could put whatever it was you put on the Eclipse page about it being an epic event. I watched the sky go light to dark to light in the forest. Maybe I should put that on my page, too, but I dislike copying people. Liberty5651 (talk) 17:40, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
I could remove it, and then it wouldn’t be so obvious that you’re copying me.... @Liberty5651: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 17:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Nah, don't do that. It's your thing. I think we have similar issues. I saw this comment "I can’t really answer that, since I don’t know myself. I kinda just drift around clicking “random article” then fixing what stands out to me as not quite right." I do the same thing. Liberty5651 (talk) 17:44, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Well, here’s the difference. I’m total n00b. I’ve been here 4 days. I wouldn’t know anything if it weren’t for a helpful editor called GalaxyDog... @Liberty5651: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 17:46, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Random Article's a cool thing, @Total Eclipse 2017:. I also like "Recent changes" and "What links here", sometimes. I was click around the other day, looking at Nino Rota and Henry Mancini's pages. One record label associated with Henry Mancini had a very strange name and it's link took me to the website for Thoth. I went back the next day to try to find the website, spent hours looking through the sites that link back to Thoth and Capital Records, but never found that one. I think it was an error. I read about many different musical artists that way which was cool. Liberty5651 (talk) 17:55, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Thoth? The Egyptian god? (I know this from reading Kane Chronicles-don’t judge) That definitely does not seem right. @Liberty5651: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:07, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Yep. Record labels are named after all different sorta tings, so it didn't immediately seem wrong. It just seemed odd to be related to these two composers. Liberty5651 (talk) 18:22, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
@Total Eclipse 2017: Seems you got your User Page going. How'd you get those boxes on it? @GalaxyDog: How does one get buttons on ones user page; like those Total Eclipse 2017 has "Random page patroller"? I'd put one about being a recent change scroller on mine. Liberty5651 (talk) 18:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Good job! You made user page! @Liberty5651: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 19:18, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Yeah. Doesn't say much about me, though. It's mostly other people's quotes. ... Maybe I should put your comment about the eclipse on there. I'm fine with it if I attribute it to you. Please let me know if you'd like it removed. … just gota find it again. Liberty5651 (talk) 19:31, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Liberty5651: Those boxes are called userboxes. Read more here: WP:UBX There's one about patrolling Recent Changes, you can add it with {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}}. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 19:45, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
@Liberty5651: I don’t mind you using my quote. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 19:52, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
@Liberty5651: @GalaxyDog: What is “recent changes”? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 20:59, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Special:RecentChanges shows all of the most recent edits to all Wikipedia pages. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 21:08, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Total Eclipse 2017: The link to “Recent changes” is exactly six (6) links below "Random article" in the column on the left. It's a good way to spend some time. Once you're on the Recent Changes page there's a button near the top titled "Live updates". Click that and watch what people are editing in real time. Liberty5651 (talk) 22:05, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello!
I was look through when I see your username! Haha I remember the solar eclipse, I was at school but since I live in Southern California it was not as cool as you must of seen it. See you around! The4lines (talk) 16:44, 15 April 2020 (UTC)The4lines

Blitz Copy Edits
Hello: I've gone through the articles you have copy edited to date and for the most part they look fine. The edits you have made have improved each of them. I've made a few notes/observations as follows:
Amogha missile – added conversions see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Convert TdSilk also had a look at it before me. See edit history for their changes
I added back some information I felt was useful and fixed the name of the missile. (see edit history)
Bhim self-propelled howitzer – In the Development section: This sentence – "It was developed and tested successfully and was cleared for production but was put on hold after Denel was banned from working on the project." – cannot have a comma after production because the phrase beginning with "but" does not have a subject. If it was written- "It was developed and tested successfully and was cleared for production, but it was put on hold after Denel was banned from working on the project." – then the comma would be correct. Added back some useful details. Jonesey95 went through it before I did. Have a look at the article history to see what they did.
Hathazari Airfield – It is not recommended that you link terms in article headings as was done in "Use by the RAF". Since the squadrons are linked, I removed the link to the RAF itself. It’s not really necessary.
No. 16 Squadron IAF – added a link to Dabolim Airfield and 16 Squadron is the correct terminology
As a rule, unless something in the article is completely off track I tend not to remove what might appear to be excessive detail. Since we are probably not experts on the subject of the article we are editing, it is better to leave that kind of "pruning" to some one who is.
So, welcome to the Blitz. Have fun editing and if you have any questions, just let me know.
Stay safe. Twofingered Typist (talk) 21:33, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: Thank you for your review! I probably was a little hasty with the pruning. Sorry about that. Also, I did not know about this “convert” template, so thank you for letting me know about that. I’m overall very satisfied with how I did-I thought I would end up destroying an article by accident... Also, I hope you stay safe as well. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:13, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
@Twofingered Typist: Also, I linked RAF because although the squadrons were linked, there never was a link pointing directly to the RAF... Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:43, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

User page
I’ve noticed a link on the top of the screen next to my talk page link called “user page”. What is this page for? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:43, 10 April 2020 (UTC) @GalaxyDog:
- User pages are for talking about yourself, how you contribute to Wikipedia, etc. --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:45, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Interesting. I think I’ll create it; why not. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:46, 10 April 2020 (UTC)@GalaxyDog:
- Great! Yes, it's helpful for you to have a userpage. --GalaxyDog (talk) 18:54, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, just saw this. I’m still trying to decide whether I like editing Wikipedia or not... What is so helpful about user page? @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:28, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Well, it lets people know who you are and what you do on Wikipedia. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 15:35, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
I can’t really answer that, since I don’t know myself. I kinda just drift around clicking “random article” then fixing what stands out to me as not quite right... @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:37, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
You have very nice user page, BTW. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:37, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks! If you fix things on random pages, then perhaps you'd be interested in putting this userbox on your page (the link I put on "userbox" explains what userboxes are): {{User wikipedia/RP Patrol}} --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:03, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
What do you do on Wikipedia? Also , will add the box thingy. @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:07, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Right now I'm focusing on reverting vandalism. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:10, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Vandalism? @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:15, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Edits that are not constructive. See WP:VAND for more info. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:16, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
I skimmed over it.. so, people actually sabotage Wikipedia on purpose? Why? @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:41, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- I wonder why people do many things. Perhaps they think they are funny? --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:43, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
So, something like “screamingmonkeys84936byrjhdjokfnjp7ndr” would be vandalism? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yes. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:43, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Don’t worry. I’m not going to be a vandal:) @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 17:06, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Next month will mark our 10th anniversary of copy-editing drives, feel free to sign up here. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:14, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Reidgreg: I’ll sign up. 10 years? Wow. Glad I’m here for that... Also, what is the meaning of this “barnstar” you put on my talk page? Is it a good thing? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:43, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry to just push my self here but a barnstar is like a award. So yes it’s a good thing. Hope this helps. The4lines (talk) 15:50, 21 April 2020 (UTC)The4lines
- @The4lines: It’s fine. Really when I notify someone, I can accept an answer from anyone. I read the text on it and I’m guessing I got it for the articles I copyedited? Also, that does help. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 15:54, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Barnstars on Wikipedia are a way of showing appreciation, apparently based on a practice from barn-raising days. The GOCE awards barnstars for participation in our monthly blitzes and drives. It's just a little thank-you, to say that we value your work in copy editing those articles. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:57, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

- @Puddleglum2.0: Done. You should take a look at my userpage; it’s almost as messy as yours! Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:21, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Ha! It looks great, I'm glad you're finding your way around Wikipedia! Cheers, --Puddleglum2.0(How's my driving?) 16:23, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Puddleglum2.0: I really enjoy it here, and I’m glad to be of assistance to the copyeditors. You’re one, right? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:30, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yep, you'll see me around there! That's where I spend most of my Wikipedia time, but I also write for the Signpost, which is essentially an on-Wiki newspaper. --Puddleglum2.0(How's my driving?) 16:40, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Puddleglum2.0: I’ll check it out. I don’t think you have the right link, though... it doesn’t lead anywhere. Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:41, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- Well now it leads to a redirect to “traffic sign”. I don’t think that’s right...Thanks
- Oops, sorry! Signpost, that link should work. --Puddleglum2.0(How's my driving?) 16:45, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Puddleglum2.0: It works now. Thanks! Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:48, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I'm GalaxyDog. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Lego, West Virginia, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:20, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Um... did the bot possess you?? @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:25, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
The cluebot one? Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:26, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- No - Wikipedia provides a variety of templates so that when people undo edits, they can comment on the talk page of the person who made them and tell them why they reverted them. This is good because then every time undoes an edit, they don't have to retype the same message over and over for everyone whose edits they undo. :) Does that make sense? --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:29, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes, it does. Also, sorry about the edit-I was just tryin to help... @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:31, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- You don't have to apologize. It's just that we (as editors) need to make sure that everything on Wikipedia is cited correctly. --GalaxyDog (talk) 16:35, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
I skimmed the guide, clicked my favorite button (random article) and added a reference. Did I do it right this time? Wikipedia is so complicated... @GalaxyDog: Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 16:50, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- You got the formatting right, although maybe you should use one of these templates? Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/3 I'm by no means an expert on this matter though. :) --GalaxyDog (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- @GalaxyDog: That emulate looks complicated. Is there an easier way to format a reference? I added one to the Frog article but its a bare URL and I can’t figure out the referencing template. Help! Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 18:39, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Well, for a web citation, I think you'd use the {{cite web}} template. Go to Template:Cite web to learn how to use it and Template:Cite web#Examples to see some examples. :) --GalaxyDogtalk 20:36, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @GalaxyDog: Ha! You added your message at 13:37 in my time zone. I find that funny... on a serious note, will check out the template. -- Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) 20:54, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Copy edit of Sears
Hi Total Eclipse 2017. Good job on the Sears article! I checked it and made two additional very minor edits. First, I used "straight quotes" per the Manual of Style. I also moved the comma inside the quotation mark since Sears is a primarily American company and that is the preferred style in American English. Finally, when you add a completed article to your list on the drive page, be sure to also update the total articles and total words counts underneath! Cheers, Tdslk (talk) 03:38, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
@Tdslk: Whoops! I’ll go fix that... Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 15:27, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- You too! Tdslk (talk) 15:32, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Also, my device doesn’t even have the orthodox quotation marks on its keyboard, so I have to get a bit creative. Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 15:39, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
CVUA
Note -- Your CVUA page is set up here. Take your time, don't feel obligated to rush! --Puddleglum2.0(How's my driving?) 21:28, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
I actually want to work on some CVUA... I did some major copy editing earlier, and I want to do something different now. Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 21:31, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- I enabled Twinkle. Does it work on mobile? I couldn’t find button for it anywhere... Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 21:36, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
Copy edit review of We Are Both from the Same Village
Hi Total Eclipse! I have reviewed We Are Both from the Same Village per your request. It looks like you made a lot of good changes! Please check the article's history for a few additional changes I made. Most notably, I adjusted capitalization of the title and moved the article to conform with MOS:TITLECAPS. I also put the title in quotes instead of italics as it is a short work. Regards, Tdslk (talk) 19:49, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review, Tdslk! I really appreciate it! I quite enjoy these copyediting blitzes and drives... at the rate we’re going, we might clear the backlog (especially if me and MRC2RULES keep up our friendly competition)... Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 19:51, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- I definitely find reducing the backlog and being on the leaderboard exciting! It's important to remember, though, that the Guild's number one focus should be on doing a quality job! Tdslk (talk) 19:56, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- I agree. That’s why I said it was a friendly competition. We’re just having a little fun as we copy edit... Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 19:59, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Tdslk: I do try to maintain high quality. If someone says that my copy edits did not improve an article, then I have failed. Stay safe and well, --Total Eclipse 2017 (talk) (Origin of the username) 20:00, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
