account amalgamation

[edit]

Hi Trijnstel. Can you please advise me. I tried a name change/usurpation, see here: [1]. The dutch Gebruiker:VanBuren is my dutch home account and I would like to make sure that my english account, User:VanBurenen now has the same name. I can log in under both names on both accounts if necessary. What to do to have this done, other than wait six months apparently? --VanBurenen (talk) 19:16, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi VanBuren! It looks a bit strange, but (correct me if I'm wrong), you autocreated account "VanBuren" on the English Wikipedia on 1 May and now you want to have "VanBurenen" (which you apparantly used for years instead of "VanBuren"?) renamed to "VanBuren". I advice you to post a confirmation note with the account VanBuren (talk · contribs) on WP:USURP so the bureaucrats will see that the Dutch user "VanBuren" (the account here is autocreated) agrees with the unification. I'll search for a bureaucrat to have your account renamed then. After your old account is renamed, please merge it with you Dutch account via Special:MergeAccount. Then everything should be okay. With regards, Trijnsteltalk 19:32, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Trijnstel, I have placed a confirmation on my English VanBuren talk page and a note on the request page [2]. Added it to the "Reason" note because I could not find another place to write it. Hopefully this works out :). (All this because I could not log into the English and Dutch accounts anymore at the same time under the different names. The use of two different names was sort of a mistake when I created the accounts long time ago.) --VanBuren (talk) 20:41, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This gets too complicated for me: [3]. I am very confused now with all that back and forth going on. I'll look at it again tomorrow. --VanBurenen (talk) 20:48, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think the bureaucrat renamed it while you were still editing (usually they aren't this quick, lol) so your account was created & renamed multiple times:
It took a while, but now you're renamed. And you already merged your account as well as it seems. Great. :-) Trijnsteltalk 21:25, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your assistance! --VanBuren (talk) 07:52, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Jonbenet-ramsey.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jonbenet-ramsey.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:38, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done - Already added back to the article by Canoe1967 since it was removed without a valid reason. Trijnsteltalk 11:06, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DBZ histmerge

[edit]

Why did you do this with ChrisGualtieri's sandbox page?—Ryulong (琉竜) 04:44, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ryulong. Because ChrisGualtieri asked me so via IRC. He first asked a local user (User:John F. Lewis), but he couldn't do it as that page (Dragon Ball Z) had more than 5,000 revisions. That's why they asked me to do it as stewards have the tools (bigdelete) to delete/merge with more than 5,000 revisions. At second thought it probably wasn't a good idea since I caused a database error and the developers had to help me by fixing it... but it was certainly a valuable lesson and I won't do it again. Image deletion

[edit]

Hi, just a quick message to enquire about the deletion of the image for Liam Hennessy (coach). Another of my contributions Setanta College had its image deleted recently and I don't understand why. I'd appreciate any info you could give. Cheers --Sean23121987 (talk) 09:56, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sean23121987. You re-added a photo that was also deleted two times (Liam Hennessy PhD IRFU.jpg). The reason for the deletion (I did it the first time, my colleague Steinsplitter deleted it the 2nd time) was copyright violation. I found the photo on http://www.irishrugby.ie/news/15977.php and that page says "© Inpho.ie" which means that they own the copyright and it's (in my humble opinion) very unlikely that you're the photographer. Either ask for explicit permission (use these email templates) from the photographer or post a photo you made yourself, but don't upload photos from others please. See for more information Commons:OTRS and Commons:Licensing. With regards, Trijnsteltalk 21:54, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cwmsymlog

[edit]

I am pleased that the drawing made my my late wife in the article "Cwmsymlog"is visible again. I own the drawing and made the photo. I have all the rights and gave permission to use the photo here. Friends of mine live opposite the stone and can confirm all this. I used the talk page of Dougweller for more information Thank youRomeinsekeizer (talk) 09:13, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I noticed on OTRS. :) The permission was already approved, but the image wasn't put back in the article (which I now did). Trijnsteltalk 10:32, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Histmerge

[edit]

Hey there; I was wondering if you could perform a histmerge of User:Tomica/Good Girl Gone Bad to Good Girl Gone Bad? Cheers, — Status (talk · contribs) 03:23, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure I should do that since the devs weren't happy with me last time (I caused a database error). Could you please request this on m:SRM? Trijnsteltalk 11:26, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Thanks for the direction. — Status (talk · contribs) 03:34, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dave Winfield, Village People and Victor Willis photos

[edit]

Hello, thanks for straightening out the Dave Winfield photo. I'm having the same issues with the photo of the Village People and Victor Willis, because wikicommons editor Dman41689 feels "they're too good for someone who uses wikipedia." There is a discussion re: this oat the commons admin page. Hopefuilly these too will be straightened out. Hotcop2 (talk) 14:16, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know... but I wasn't sure yet for the other files so need some time to think. Btw, where is the discussion? On which admin noticeboard? Trijnsteltalk 20:28, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Jcb handled everything now. Trijnsteltalk 12:59, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The IP address has been blocked an all wikis until 2014. Could you unblock that user? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bangter (talkcontribs) 10:29, 12 November 2013‎

That IP address isn't blocked, but even if it was I wouldn't unblock it either. And you're blocked now. Trijnsteltalk 15:36, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A cheeseburger for you!

[edit]
Here is your lunch, and a good cheesburger for you.

With User:Moonriddengirl and User:Russavia Bangter (talk) 10:40, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and goodbye. Only a block appeal via UTRS could possibly unblock you, but creating more sockpuppets certainly won't help. Trijnsteltalk 15:36, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, I had to undo one of your edits. If you find a source for the information, then it can be undone. 80.111.172.25 (talk) 19:01, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Trijnsteltalk 21:34, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

signature problem.

[edit]

You don't need to sign a prod. It does cause some problems, example is Swag Daddy.

On a side note, you may want to change <font> to <span>. <font> is not valid HTML5, but <span> is. It does work just fine if you keep it as is, but would be nice to "future" proof. I coded up your signature using <span>: Trijnsteltalk

Bgwhite (talk) 09:08, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) The problem is, as a steward I'll bet that she has the same signature loaded into all 900+ wikis... --Rschen7754 09:09, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Rschen, actually, I use my sig only on a few projects (enwp, nlwp, commons, meta etc)...
@Bgwhite, what's exactly the difference? What are the benefits of using span rather than font? Trijnsteltalk 17:52, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There should be no difference between using the two. For right now, there are no benefits of using either one. The span tag can do a few more things, but it is irrelevant to your current signature. Font is depreciated and will not work one day (talking years away). In theory, when Parsoid becomes the default parser, Wikipedia is only serving HTML5, thus only span. Parsoid will have to convert font to span. As we all know from some other Mediawiki plans (*cough* Visual Editor *cough*), everything will work just as advertised and no "in theory" should be mentioned.
FYI... There are no articles on enwiki that have a font tag. I arrived at Swag Daddy because a font tag was detected in the article. Bgwhite (talk) 06:15, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for informing me. I didn't know about this technical part of my sig at all, so I'll probably change it into your suggestion soon. :) Trijnsteltalk 19:24, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
