I wonder if Bendono, Darwinek or any of the others who supported the motion catch on...I wonder how that name looks in Japanese, Polish, Slovak etc. lol Rosa 09:41, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Projekt

Jinak mám fúru učení do školy, takže zatím dávám ruce víceméně pryč, málo času. - Darwinek 12:22, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Zatím to dáváš na správné stránky :). Dávat to třeba do "World War II" je už hloupost, to by tam mohlo být taky 30 bannerů :), ale všechno co se týká české historie, geografie, lidí atd. určitě. Nejjednodušší je vždycky jet podle kategorií. - Darwinek 12:45, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes i have done it now. hope i helped you in the way you wanted:) /matrix17

Proposed Guideline

Hola, you might be interested in participating in this discussion to consent on a new proposed Wikipedia guideline for diacritics which basically says the following:

  • Diacritics should only be used in an article's title, if it can be shown that the word is routinely used in that way, with diacritics, in common usage. This means in reliable English sources, such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, or articles in major English-language newspapers.
  • If the word is routinely listed in reliable English sources without diacritics, then the Wikipedia article should follow that method for the article title, though the diacritics version should be given in the initial paragraph of the article as suggested in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English).
  • If it is not clear what "common usage" is, then the general Wikipedia guideline is to avoid use of diacritics in article titles.

It's at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (standard letters with diacritics). Adiós, Rosa 23:35, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Vilém Flusser

Could you please see my remarks at Talk:Vilém Flusser, since the edit I am questioning is yours? Thanks. - Jmabel | Talk 00:07, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Serafin

I noticed at Talk:Expulsion of Germans after World War II that you were doubting the identity of 131.104.218.46 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log). I have been monitoring the case the last few weeks and the results seem pretty conclusive to me. User:J.smith blocked User:Serafin for incivility and personal attacks, whereupon Serafin began flagrantly using several sockpuppets and IP addresses. J.smith extended the block, but Serafin has continued by using other accounts and IPs. The only reason I haven't blocked his access because of this sockpuppetry is because of the discussions (relatively calm, for now) at that talk page. Olessi 18:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: Image + Otakar Jaros

You own source states: "Od roku 1934 do německého útoku 22. června 1941 titul získalo celkem 626 lidí, z toho 2 cizinci: italský letec ze španělské občanské války P. Gibelli a Bulhar V.S. Goranov (oba titul obdrželi 31. prosince 1936)." Forget about Jaroš being the first. There is nothing obvious about this image. It is possible that the author is even alive and his work is of course protected well after his death. Provide source and copyright information or it will have to go. I'm sorry about that.--Pethr 22:48, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

vůbec první cizinec oceněný ZA VÁLKY titulem Hrdina SSSR--Pethr 22:54, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
You still may be right, it seems that those pre-1938 honours might had had some different status or something. If you have time for that try to find some better source. As for the image, fair use is fine, since there is no other photo of him and it is possible that this one is public domain. Still it would be better to find public domain photo but I think it may be impossible task. Regards!--Pethr 23:06, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
You know, I don't think it's awfully important whether he was first or not. It would be nice if he was but we can't know it for sure so we better leave it this way. People are obsessed with this trivia-like information but there is much other work to be done. I added infobox, please review it. It would be great to unify words like platoon/company/battalion to always reflect the right Czech/English counterpart. I would also suggest looking at the use of capital letters in the article since some titles should be IMO capitaized. Try to look around how it is used elsewhere if you want to continue on this article. There are also some weak parts in the article, f.e. I removed setence about dissolution of the Czech army because I'm almost certain it happend upon occupation not after Munich and so on...--Pethr 00:54, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

MarvinCZ posted on my talk page something remotely similar to what I suggested above.--Pethr 19:05, 5 February 2007 (UTC) Just my two cents: Your source (Fronta.cz [1]) says that the medal Gold Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded from 1st August 1939, so the first two probably didn't get this (but they were Heroes of the Soviet Union). So Otakar Jaros may be the first foreigner to get the Gold Star. --Marvin talk 18:22, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I've removed it from the list. I don't think it should be recreated because it was started by a banned user, and if we did recreate it, we'd essentially be encouraging him to contribute here, and that's not what we want. Khoikhoi 05:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Re:

- Darwinek 20:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Nehrotil bych to. :) - Darwinek 20:20, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Studuji politologii a evropská studia, no a samozřejmě historie to celé prostupuje, někdy až moc :). - Darwinek 20:48, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

englishonality lol

Hola, I had a final question and a comment on the Waldemar Matuška issue. First, I forgot to ask how on earth do you pronounce the "š" in Czech? lol...is it like a "sh" in English? Second, I noticed that 15 people favored the move of Matuška's article versus four people who opposed it, yet the article wasn't moved. On the other hand, the article on Mario Lopez, which was discussed at the same time, was moved from Mario López to the spelling without a diacritic with six votes in favor and two opposing. I didn't see where did the two opponents to the move conceded to move the article yet the article was moved indeed. Isn't it high time for the Waldemar article to be moved too?Rosa 04:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

sorry for that, seems the page was moved around the time I asked the previous question...Rosa 04:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining. :) How does one pronounce the "š" though?Rosa 14:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
"Š" is pronounced as "sh". These characters were introduced by Jan Huss in the 15th century. Homework exercise: try to pronounce "šit". Best wišes, Luboš Motl --Lumidek (talk) 08:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. Do you know someone else who can do it? Otherwise I can look myself for a translator. Thanks anyway, Crum375 12:11, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Otakar Jaroš, was selected for DYK!

Updated DYK query On February 9, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Otakar Jaroš, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Matuska

Not as revenge, but as summary: I see significant evidence that he is called Matuska in English, and no evidence whatever that he has ever been called Matuška in English. That's an accuracy dispute, so labelled. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 23:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

if you think it will be removed by someone else, let's see what happens. I think the dispute is quite real. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:13, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Husond was not acting as an admin; he's a partisan you asked to step in. In fact, I will think zbout this; I'm not sur meatpuppetry counts. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 05:31, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism?

Please refrain from tagging other user's contributions as vandalism as you did here. It was right to revert that edit but it wasn't vandalism. I really don't know how you managed to get this user blocked and I actually think that it was wrong because he didn't get proper set of warnings (I also don't really understand how this edit summary was personal attack?) and in fact isn't really vandal. You also often need to chill and nobody is banning you because of that;)--Pethr 01:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I know and I agree but it would be more helpful next time if he could receive proper warnings. There are customized templates for almost everything which you are not supposed to do on Wikipedia. See WP:UTM. In many cases they either stop or think a little while about what they are doing. Many of his edits where clearly done in good faith and yesterday he didn't control himself. I think that this case could have been resolved. Have a good day without difficult users;)--Pethr 05:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC): abouth that block (my block), it was easy, he went to cant-sleep-claun-will-eat-me, complaint about me using lies about me disturbing wikipedia.= instant ban

It seems I was wrong and assumed too much good faith this time. If he doesn't stop post him {{subst:uw-npa4}} and report him on WP:AIV if he continues after that warning. I often wonder why I trust people so much.--Pethr 04:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
