If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on R. H. Penton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Whispering 16:07, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not to worry, I have removed speedy deletion tag, as I do believe it was placed in error, with a rationale for deletion that did not reflect the actual content of the article. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 03:57, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

You will note that another user has added more accessible references, so that sorts notability. Could you please add page numbers to your book reference?

Whether you can use his pictures depends when he died. Under English law his works are copyright, I think, until 70 years after his death. If that condition is met, upload the pictures here, which will walk you through the process.

Under US law, the copyright period is from creation, not death, so you may be able to upload here if he died too late for the Commons upload to be valid (the English wikipedia servers are in Florida)

I'm no expert on copyright, so don't take the above as gospel.

If the paintings are out of copyright, photos of them can be used for any purpose anyway. If they are in copyright, you own the copyright, and release images to Wikipedia, the terms of the release mean that you are agreeing to their use for any purpose, including commercial, anyway. So there would be nothing to monitor. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:33, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fine with me. You can put the image anywhere in the article, I've moved it to the top. I've removed his name from the caption per MoS as it's assumed to refer to the subject of the article unless otherwise stated Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:58, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an ancient non-techie too, just that I've been here a long time. I can't see a problem. Pages can be protected against editing, but this isn't, your edits appear in the history, and the only subsequent edit was by a bot fixing a referencing error. You haven't been blocked either. Why do you think something is wrong? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:54, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see now, you added ref tags without any content, so you got the red message, the bot removed the ref tags and the message, all is well Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:59, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
